I have added a number of stations to my favorites on squeezenetwork, but they won't play.
I do not get any error messages, just silence.
The sites range in file name extensions at the end of the url, I have .m3u .pls .asx .rm .ram .wma
I get the sites using a freeware tool, internet radio by Bleucanard Software. It's nice. I can sample the site and get it's address to place in my favorites.
Is there a list of file types I'm allowed to stream into my SB2 available?
Thanks

when used with SqueezeNetwork, the audio formats of the stream must be
in a format supported natively by the SqueezeBox2. This means Flac,
Wav, and MP3. Other formats are being investigated, and are planned
additions where possible.

It's worth also pointing out that m3u and pls often actually contain mp3 files - you just have to do a bit of digging to get them. I think winamp will display the real url if you use it to open an m3u.

Format Confusion
Jazzfan,
Can you post the list of stations that aren't working for you? The
m3u and pls files should work, assuming that they point to MP3 (or
WAV or FLAC) stations, but you may have found a bug.
The .asx, .rm, .ram and .wma files won't play, since they use formats
we don't support. Yet.

Would it be possible for the SqueezeNetwork server to send a meaningfull message to the Squeezebox when a non-supported audiostream is encountered?

I think displaying such a message would reduce the confusion...

I looked and most are of the file type not supported. However, one seems odd as the URL is only listed as http://cryomedia4.cryohost.net/GMG_Smooth_Manchester and does not play. It plays in my internet radio using this URL. ???
Hopefully not a stupid question, but if I run my PC with Slimserver as a host rather than squeezenetwork can I connect to the stations using .asx, .rm, .ram, .wma, (and I assume convert the file formats), and listen to them?
Thanks

Absolutely. Bug filed: <http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?
id=1777>
To gain this fix do I need to download slimserver again and have it perform a firmware update? I believe I'm at 12.0 and that gained me access to squeezenetwork. Or, does my SB2 get updated automatically since I connect mainly to squeezenetwork and do not use Slimserver?

that's only a filed bug. there is no fix. It is for tracking purposes
until there is a fix. you can go to the bug tracker and add your email
to the cc list for that report if you wish to be included in any
ongoing progress. If a firmware fix is required, there will be mention
there of what may be required.
