    Softsqueeze troubles

I am trying to use Softsqueeze 2.0b6 to do the following. I want to play music on my PC downstairs & for the music to play on my PC upstairs. I have a network successfully set-up however I cannot seem to get the above to work.
So I installed everything. I set Softsqueeze running downstairs and the music plays okay. However when I go upstairs and try listen to the music in winamp using http://192.168.1.3:9000/stream.mp3 , all winamp says is "Welcome to SlimServer".
What am I doing wrong? Anyone able to help?

using winamp, you are only connecting to slimserver from the winamp application.
This creates a new player client for slimserver, with its own playlist
handling. You must still create a playlist for the winamp client from the
slimserver web interface and initiate playback from there.

If you want to synchronise, playing the same music on both, consider launching
softsqueeze on both PC's. You can then select to sync the players, from teh
    player settings.

Oh I think I may not have made myself clear enough.

On the "server" machine I have created a playlist in SlimServer. And the music will play ok through winamp when I type http://127.0.0.1:9000/stream.mp3

However on the remote machine, I take it I shouldn't need slimserver installed so I should just be able to enter the following URL into winamp and it should work http://192.168.1.3:9000/stream.mp3 Am I correct in my assumption?

Not quite... I can see how you've arrived at that - and it makes a kind of sense!

The file "stream.mp3" doesn't really exist, so as kdf said - it is a different stream for each player that connects. As far as I know you can't sync up 2 Winamp players as they are not aware of Slimserver. Slimserver presnts the stream as a file so that Winamp can play it. Your second PC is seeing a completely different "stream.mp3" which doesn't have anything playing on it. You can verify this by looking at the Slimserver web interface. You will now see 2 players connected, one playing your playlist and when you select the other one from the drop down list of players, it's doing nothing.

As kdf said - the way to do this is to just use SoftSqueeze on both PCs (ie no Winamp is involved)- it works well. I've managed to get 1 Slimp3, 1 Squeezebox and 1 Softsqueeze all synced up.

    Cheers,
