    Strangeness with stream.mp3 playback

I've been listening to my slimserver with the stream.mp3 from work for about a week now, and I have some strange behaviour that I don't quite understand. The player we have access to is WMP - I have no problems connecting to the stream, but the following issue is driving me nuts.

If I click stop or pause on the web interface, the rest of the playlist I've queued up keeps playing - until I stop playback on WMP. I can watch playback on the web interface go much faster than real time, so it's buffering somehow, I guess. Any ideas?

I don't have any slimserver yet - my birthday is still a few months away.

Windows media player just downloads the stream.mp3 as fast as your
bandwidth allows. If you have a fast connection you may have downloaded
an hours worth of music but only actually listened to 1 minute! This is
obviously a slimserver issue as well which has a bug registered for it
(see bugs.slimdevices.com) but given the availability of softsqueeze
there is not really much need to fix it.

The way around this is to use another client.
WinAmp is far better behaved and you can reduce the buffer size so it is
only around 5 seconds ahead at any one time (i.e. if you press pause
or skip on the web interface it will take 5 seconds for the song to
    pause/skip when listening with winamp).

The other way to do it is to use a software emulation of the squeezebox
which will be realtime, give you better control and better sound quality
    - softsqueeze. (remember to reduce the bitrate in player settings on the
web interface otherwise it may try and send uncompressed audio over your
    poor internet connection!)
