    Updated SC7 version - 10 day forecast

Greg, I downloaded the updated SC7 version ... and the forecast panels still display in Fahrenheit degrees. Is there a way to select / specify Celsius instead? Am I missing something or doing something wrong? (This is a great plugin, btw!)

I assume you're referring to the 10day forecasts. Which ones though? It's not documented but the non-Jive remote 10day forecasts can easily be modified to Celsius and reformatted. Think I got lazy and didn't want to clutter the GUI with more settings.

    To change them:
    1.)Shut down SqueezeCenter.
2.) Locate the SC preference file for SuperDateTime. On Windows this will be in a hidden folder in something like: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\prefs\plugin
3.) Edit file in text editor
    4.) Locate weatherformat1b(1t,2b,2t) settings
5.) 1b refers to screen 1 bottom, 2t refers to the second screen if you have a transporter, etc.

The first row for each setting in the format string is for the short term forecasts- today, tomorrow, etc. These can also be changed from the GUI settings page. The second entry is for the 10day forecasts (not on GUI settings page). Any subsequent entries are for custom display strings you've created (on GUI settings page).

Change %_5 to %_6 and %_7 to %_8. That will switch them from F to C for the 10days (not on Jive though).

    6.) Restart.

Squeezebox Duet - After installing superdatetime and restarting both SqueezeCenter and the remote, I get nothing for the forecasts. For Current Conditions I get:
    *(*)
    Low Precip.
    Humidity.

similar things for forecast and 10 day forecast.

    What have I done wrong?

Is this your first time using the plugin? Did you enter in a zipcode? If so, what did you enter?

    Thanks

Greg, yes, that fixed it. The ten day forecasts (max/min) are now in Celsius on my Squeezebox. Thanks!

I understand the GUI clutter issue ... but this control probably should be externalised so that the 10day forecast format can be easily set to match the 'current' formats ... for all of us users in 'metric'/MKS countries. Just a single switch, like for the Long Weather Forecast format, could do. In fact, you could probably use a set of global switches that would apply to all displays and simplify the Time/Weather format strings. Just a suggestion ...

Second time. First time I got the same results. So I got rid of the SuperDateTime directory and the prefs file and reinstalled. I left the zip code that was settings file. 60614.

Seeing the same behavior as Jaques...

I've also installed the plugin and my results are the same as Jaques. Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I am itching to use SuperDateTime. My zip is 50021.

Hi Greg, I've tried doing this and haven't been able to get the extended forecasts showing anything other than farenheit. I think I may be editing the wrong preference file? I'm using SqueezeCenter in linux, so maybe there are different paths to the correct prefs file. There's a Plugin.pm file in the SuperDateTime folder in the SC Plugins directory which had %_5/%_7 in the 'weatherformat' section as per your instructions. However, changing these to %_6 and %_8 hasn't changed the displayed temperature format - it's still in farenheit.
Do you know the path of the preferences file that you talk about above in linux, as I can't find an equivalent to the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\prefs\plugin file. There doesn't appear to be anything similar in /usr/share/squeezecenter, apart from /usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins/SuperDateTime/Plugin.pm.
I'd really appreciate any help you could provide, your plugin is exactly what I need.
Oh yeah, I'm running 5.5.0 of the plugin on SC7.
Thanks very much for your help,
    jakes.

    Hey Greg,

I am having a problem with the current 7.0 plugin.

    It stops refreshing.

This has happened two days in a row now. It works fine and then it seems like it sticks and the current weather info no longer refreshes.

no ? icon so I suspect it is accessing the internet?

    suggestions?

    Bruce

my problem seems to have gone away on its own.

not sure what the problem was but as long as it works, that i good enough for me.
