Is the general experience among those that have tried that SDT works with 7.7 as long as you modify install.xml ?

Is there anything else except for install.xml that should be patched ?

I have tested mine up to 7.7.1 - r33655 now and the xml patch seems to work fine. I have not tested BoomX2's patch so far, though.

Managed to find it... for anyone else looking, check your Logitech Media Server preferences, Information tab. Scroll to the bottom and it lists all locations where plugins are being loaded.

As an aside, really wish they'd standardise all this crap so the installed path matches the app name and it's in the same place(s) as any other Mac application. Frustrating having to search around every time a new release comes out.

Well, (iirc) the install location on MacOS X has not changed since SBS 7.4.1 (the first one I was using). Being a PrefPane it was always either in the ~/Library/PreferencePanes/ or the /Library/PreferencePanes/ path.

IMHO it is a bigger hurdle that MacOS X 10.7 no longer shows the "Library" folders by default ...

I also upgraded a few days ago to LMS 7.7 on Windows 7 and it broke my SDT. Prefs are still located in \ProgramData\SqueezeBox\prefs\plugin. However, the upgrade deletes the actual plugin files. I also went in and discovered that plugins had been moved to a new location in \Program Files\Squeezebox\Server\Slim\Plugin. I manually installed the latest SDT files to this folder and modified the install.xml to not only raise the MAXVERSION but conform to the latest standards implemented by LMS as follows:

Since I have followed all the instructions for correcting compatibility (and even gone beyond that), do you have any other suggestions?

Okay. I moved the SDT plugin folder there, restarted LMS, and it worked!

Well, no joy here. I have set the version in the install.xml, and made the change to the par file.

Updated to Media Server 7.7.0, SDT 5.9.8

The plugin is loading but I get an error in the log:

"Unable to parse long weather text" and "Plugin appears to be stuck. Forcing refresh..."

In place of the Weather data is a Weather.com Icon on the left and an asterisk on the right.

Ok got rid of these by changing the WEATHER.COM IDENTIFIER to just the ZIP code

To make this a bit easier for LMS 7.7 users, I've uploaded an unofficial fix to my testing repository which contains:

1. The install.xml change that makes it run in LMS 7.7
2. The Weather Underground fix by BoomX2 posted here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...431#post666431
3. A small addition to strings.txt that caused issues on Classic, Boom, Transporter when entering Extras menu:

        DE      Als Bildschirmschoner verwenden
        EN      Use as current screensaver
        ES      Usar como protector de pantalla actual
        NL      Als huidige schermbeveiliger gebruiken

To use it, you need to configure my testing repository in SBS Settings/Plugins:

I've set the version to 5.9.9pre1, so when GoCubs releases a 5.9.9 or later it should override this temporary fix.
Currently this unofficial version is only available to 7.7.x users, if you use 7.6 or earlier you will still get the official 5.9.8 version.

GoCubs, if you are reading this, I would advice you to get rid of the par packaging if possible as this will make it easier for people to investigate and patch the plugin when something is wrong. The above mentioned unofficial version doesn't use par packaging.

Just wondering, are people who have done the workaround so that weather shows, seeing sports scores or the regular forecast with the SDT in Extras on the Touch? I did the manual adjustment and got the SDT Screensaver working, but it's not showing forecasts or scores, or any SuperDateTime icon in the extras section, so I just wanted to make sure that is what it's doing right now. Otherwise I may pull my hair out for no reason
