There's always someone that wants more! I thought you guys would be happy with the full forecast. If I understand you correctly, you want the top line to cycle when the time is being displayed.

Do other people want this too? I could add this, but it gets tricky with the new implementation that uses timers to cycle and I'm not sure I want to add yet ANOTHER configuration option...

First, thanks for spending your time creating such a useful plugin.

After having now used the 4.0b2 version for a couple of days, I would agree with the previous poster. It would be nice to have the top small line scrolling the full forecast, while the larger 2nd line retains the time as before. We have our SB3 beneath the TV, and its distracting to see the constant sliding or scrolling updates. I think I much preferred the static text. I suppose when we (rarely) want to see the weather, I'll just click through the screens.

Great job! Thanks for getting the barometric pressure in. One thing you mentioned that you were considering is providing an option for removing the AM/PM indicator for the time. That would be a great enhancement to allow more data to fit.

Again, a great job. So far so good on server hangs and functionality.

The time is displayed via the format selected in Server Settings -> Formatting. Currently, the only way to remove the AM/PM is to select a 24h time format. I could manually remove the AM/PM via the plug-in, but I'd prefer to have it controlled by the standard SlimServer way of controlling time formatting. Does someone want to file an enhancement request?

I am using Beta 2 and my Squeezebox repeats the following sequence when displayed in medium size:

1. Top Line: Tonight's forecast + low temp
Bottom Line: Time

2. Top Line: Tonight's forecast + low temp
Bottom Line: Scrolling display of tomorrow's weather

3. Top Line: Tomorrow's forecast + high temp
Bottom Line: Blank

4. Top Line: Tomorrow night forecast + low temp
Bottom Line: Blank

If I change the display size to large, display is totally blank in steps 3 & 4.

I am providing this feedback to see if this is the intended behavior of Beta 2.

In steps 3 & 4, is the bottom line blanked on purpose? In step 2, the overall information is confusing since top line refers to tonight's forecast while the bottom line shows tomorrow's.

No, this is not the intended behavior. In your above #3 and #4 there should be long forecasts to go along with the text shown in line 1. I'd suspect a parsing error. Is line 2 still coming up blank today for some of the days? If so, what zipcode/city identifier are you using?

Unfortunately, SlimServer does not currently support scrolling text in line one. I understand your point on a distracting display. That's one reason I have an option for sliding/instant screen updates. However, that only applys to screen transitions and not the scrolling forecasts. If you do not like the scrolling forcasts you can disable them by setting the 2 maximum display settings to 0.

Could you simply change line one every few seconds so that the forecast for multiple time periods is eventually displayed? That way it will be even less distracting. That's the side effect I was referring to in my original post -- it does this when you're displaying/scrolling the full forecast on line two.

We did -- but if other posters are chiming in, and the effect can be simply implemented, I thought I'd ask whether the top line could be changed as a method for full forecasts rather than scrolling ( which you say can't be done on line 1).

I'm happy as a clam, though. No need to change anything on my account.

I did see what was perhaps a bug, but not sure. Last night the wind was totally calm, and I'm wondering if a windspeed of 0, or "calm" is being improperly parsed -- there were simply two // characters, between which the windspeed normally goes.

Looks good, and I like the dewpoint.

One question, though. When I use the UP/DOWN keys on the remote, the tiny Line 1 alternates through current/tonight/tommorrow forcast. Is there any way to have a remote key show the full forecast? I currently have it turned off, because it's distracting seeing it scroll all the time, but I'd like to be able to get it when I want to see it...

Thanks for the info Greg. The 0 setting works fine. I was curious and tried pressing Right while the time was showing, thinking this might show the full forecast, but it just bounces. Can that be easily added?

I was thinking about your concern for preference clutter, and for the various components that can be displayed. I hope you don't mind, but I modifed your beta2 version to allow a string of macro variables to allow users to completely customize their weather inputs. I think its pretty self explanatory. I have not sanitized the input, nor yet created a macro variable specifically for wind speed units. I would actually also like to have the time be a configurable macro variable as well, but was too tired to work on that tonight.

You should notice that the preferences are much shorter, as one preference (the format string) replaces many previous boolean states.

Attached is a b3 version for you and others to test out. Please let me know what you think.
