For the last 3-4 days, my slimserver crashes. No message, no log,
nothing (last line is "2005-05-04 08:55:49.0254 SlimServer done
start..."). Mac OS X 10.3.9. SlimServer 6.0.x (tried the latest
nightly, 6.0.1 and 6.0.2) with 2 slimp3 players attached (latest
firmware).
6.0.2 and later crash while rebuilding the library (containing accented
chars, but no relation to that I can find in the log). 6.0.1 survives
it.
The last access to the db and the pref file is at 16:45 or something.
Then at 3:52 it crashes. In between the 2 events, the server is non
responsive, in never land or something.
I recently played with Portage and Fink. Any idea what could be wrong
here. I am actually not certain it is slimserver...
Here's the crash dump, if it helps:

Strange crashes
Frederic,
that's funny. I just opened my mailer to write a similar message. 10
minutes ago I searched for the 6.0.1 release because 6.0.2 crashes
without any interaction.
To avoid any side effects during the scan I even started the slimserver
executable with the noscan option (./slimserver --noscan &). I have to
wait for 6-12 hours. In this timeframe I don't start one of my players
to play music. On one player the clock is shown - that's all. And at
some time in this timeframe the process disappears. It just disappears.
I'm on Suse Linux 9.3. I don't see any debug message nor dumps. It just
dies. I will start the process with debug options to see if something is
shown there I can report from the Linux platform.

Strange crashes
Tried with all debug flags on, it stops nowhere in particular.

Re: Strange crashes
Hi,
do you mean without the ampersand (&)? I have no local display on this
machine. I start the process within an SSL session from one of my
workstations. What I can do is to run it from one of these workstations
and keep the SSL session open. I will do so ASAP.
I will come back.

Another thing to do when running from the command prompt is to uncomment
the line in slimserver.pl which reads:
#$SIG{__DIE__} = \&Slim::Utils::Misc::bt;
That way a backtrace will be generated when it crashes.
