"It seems like there may be more than one way to get to a working AlienBBC
plugin. You seemed to get there quickly, without all the drama and gnashing
of teeth that I had."
No, I just struggled on my own - before I found this list! Actually Jules
helped me a bit via email. I found that developers (in general) assume a
level of expertise that newbies (like me) just don't have: like what the
nightlys are, and how you get them on a windows machine
"But I got there eventually with a lot of help. And
your success certainly helped keep my spirits from flagging.
It looks like from your writeup, that you ended up with your mplayer codecs
not directly in the multi-thread directory. Is that right? It certainly
didn't work for me that way."
I have an "mplayer", "codecs" and "drivers" directories under the
multi-thread directory, but there are quite a few files (including
mplayer.exe) directly in the multi-thread directory anyway, so maybe that's
all it's using?
"So, all I can say to those about to try AlienBBC under windows is... Don't
give up! It can be done.
Bruce"
Agreed! It's a very good application, and it would be a shame if people gave
up before getting it to work.
