    AlienBBC V0.92 problem (Mandrake 10.1) - N.B. long email

    Triode

Thanks for your reply. By using

    cd /dev
    ln -s /proc/self/fd fd

it did the trick. Have you any idea why this link should be missing in
the first place? I haven't noticed any other Mandrake users complaining
about the problem and so I'm a bit worried that it is indicating my
installation was faulty. Do you know where about the fd link should be
created because as things stand I need to repeat this fix after every
    reboot?

    Regards

    Lawrence

Do you have udev installed? (my /etc/init.d/udev includes these links)

I think Mandrake 10.1 is the first version with udev and if you upgrade from 10.0 you can get problems in this area (alternative
    being devfs?)
