    Alien BBC - mms streams

With only a few tweaks I managed to get Alien BBC v0.12 to play mms
streams. The latest pre6 MPlayer can handle mms streams and its not
difficult to get the transcoder to support mms streams. However I have
to create my own mms playlist file first.

Any chance of adding mms support to the next release (assuming its not
already supported in the Beta which I haven't tried yet) ?

How do you intend to cope with the (potentially) overwhelming number
of requests to add stations ?

    Alien BBC - mms streams

    Hey Andy.

MMS support is something we haven't made a firm decision on yet. It's
technically quite easy to make the new beta work with MMS on platforms
other than Windows (windows slimserver can deal with MMS itself,
anyway). However... it's another change that slim would have to accept
into the main trunk, and I don't know if there might be other more
complicated implications to do with it.

Take a peek back through the list to a post from Triode - he was helping
somebody else do exactly the same thing earlier today.

And as far as requests to add stations are concerned... the main fix for
that is for me to actually get off my arse, and add the web-interface
pieces I intended to build to automate submission of Streams. The file
format already supports genre's, which should help navigation, but
there's a long way to go. To be honest... now 'Slim Devices Picks'
exists, it may be that lots of ABBC's 'Other Streams' menu is now obsolete.
