Hi Jules/Daniel,

When I point Safari to http://<ip address of server>:5123/Status it
returns a message saying:

Safari can’t open the page “http://<ip address of server>:5123/Status/”
because it could not connect to the server “<ip address of server>”.

even though SlimServer is running.

When I run transcoder_proxy.pl from Terminal it just sits there.

I then opened another Terminal window to try running mplayer and get:

That may be a Safari issue, I'm not sure. I find Safari even has
trouble finding 'localhost' at times.

It shouldn't do anything much, but it should report that it has found
lame, and then sit there. Did it find lame?

I've snipped a lot here. Most of that information is what I got, and
is as it should be. It is worth trying other radio streams such as
Radio 2. I know I had some trouble with Radio 1, but can't recall
what.

Yes, that does look like a problem with the codec. You certainly
don't need anything other than cook.bundle, but I'll need to think
further about whether you have to do something to get it recognised.

I'm just listening to Radio 1 at the moment via mplayer. I get the
same lines as you up to and including the "opening shared object"
line.

But then my installation works ok, with the next few lines being

Audio codec: [23] 44 kbps Stereo Music High Response - RA8
Audio bitrate: 44.100 kbit/s (5513 bps)
AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, 16 bit (0x20), ratio: 5513->176400 (44.1 kbit)
Selected audio codec: [racookmac] afm:realaud (Mac OS X RealAudio COOK)

(and so on).

What version of mplayer are you using? What's the size of the mplayer
file? I seem to recall from some earlier posts that some versions of
mplayer don't work well but the ffmpegX version should be fine.
