@michael: For me (FreeBSD 11.1) spotty is working like it should. But since the very beginning I find this msg in my daily security run output:
    Code:
     local kernel log messages:
    > pid 21035 (spotty), uid 104: exited on signal 6
Sometimes it exited twice. Not really a Problem for me but perhaps you should know.

[Announce] Spotty 2.0.0 - SpotifyConnect for your Squeezebox

    > > pid 21035 (spotty), uid 104: exited on signal 6

Are you using the Connect feature? I think that would be a daemon
crashing. Or if you skipped in LMS mode from one track to another. I've
seen crashes in that situation, too.

The underlying librespot project currently is undergoing major changes,
many bug fixes (larger or minor). I'll hopefully have new, improved code
    ready in the near future.

Interesting: there's been a report about the Spotify app not updating
    Now Playing information on Android:

Michael, I noticed that on the librespot forum you mentioned that it was working until the latest Spotify update. That is not strictly true as when the latest update was first installed everything was working and it only stopped working around a week later for me and a couple of days later for Kidstypike.

Reverting to an earlier 8.4 version doesn't fix it. I have gone back to 6.1.1.1088.

Are there any Windows players using librespot I could try or is that not a thing?

Hmm... that's really odd. As LMS itself is 32 bit, too, the architecture
can't be the problem. Are you sure you downloaded the correct file? And
    it did download correctly?

Turned out the reason it "wasn't applicable" is that I'd already installed C++ six years ago! I initiated a repair anyway (the system offered the option) in case it had somehow been corrupted.

But Spotty still doesn't work. VCRUNTIME 140.dll not found error and the same suggested solutions. Install C++, or re-install Spotty.exe. As to re-installing Spotty I can't see how that should be done. Tried disabling it then re-enabling it but that made no difference. So how do you properly uninstall / reinstall Spotty?

    Many thanks, appreciate the help.

Sounds like C++ isn't installed properly despite the repair. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Update. IIRC the version you need is 2015 which couldn't have been installed 6 years ago.

    That fixed it. Many thanks!

Seems though that Spotty needs a premium Spotify account and not the free version I use. Dang. Oh well. One day maybe.

librespot on Windows is a big thing - because it doesn't work yet. None
of the audio backends (except the pipe I'm using) is working. Therefore
there's little information about it on Windows.

Just decided to take the plunge on Spotify. A few newb questions.
    • Does the LMS server appear as a Spotify device, regardless of the # of players (or do the players)?
    • What happens if I have 3 or 4 LMS servers [Home, backup, work, vacation]? Can they all be registered off the same subscription?
    • Can you only use one device (server) at a time (presume sync works to several players off the same server).
    • If I took the family subscription, would different family members log in with their own id's. How easy is it do do this per player?
    • Can you use 2 id's/players at the same time through the same LMS instance (not synced)?

Sorry if these are numpty questions - just trying to work out if it is worth it, and how to get the most from it.
