I meant, do you have thumbnails embeded in the actual mp3 or flac music files?

Oh I didn't know these were artwork plugins? I use them to display bandbios etc.
Ok, so are you using the Music and Artist Information plug-in? If so, take a look at these settings (and the rest of the settings of this plug-in), they might interfere with your other artwork?

The problems are related and many users will it find more helpful in this way.

album art yes (mostly), artist thumbnails no. The latter are all stored in a folder artist pictures/thumb.

Deleting all .db-files except persist.db did the trick.
However, once again, LMS downloaded artist pictures without any request from my side and without providing a copy in the default location. Endless battle.

So, disable all plug-ins which might import new artwork, like Music and Artist Information, and restart LMS. See if this solves the issue. If so, report to the maintainer of the plug-in.

    LMS and images (covers)

Music & Artist Information uses the image proxy (imgproxy.db) a lot.
Please check your MAI settings to see whether it uses a local folder for
the artist artwork, too. If so, replace files in there.

No, LMS does not download artist pictures by itself. It's the MAI plugin
you told LMS to install ;-).
