The SB players do not support https when playing thro' mysqeezebox.com

When changing over to https some station retain the http stream (for older radios not just SB) but KCLU does not.

Both MySB.com and LMS 7.8.1 won't allow https to be added to Favorites nor play from Tune In URL.

TuneIn shows KCLU as http URL (not https). Plays fine on TuneIn web site but when added to TuneIn app Favorites directly from TuneIn web site it again won't play in MySB.com nor LMS.

Might try informing TuneIn, maybe just a fix on their end, but it's a long shot for sure. Or, as bpa suggests, possibly a later beta release of LMS which might play https.

I think the http URL is a playlist and not the playable URL. I tried different variations and couldn't get a http playable URL.

Thanks all, for the input and information.

FWIW, I asked KCLU to retain the HTTP stream. I'll let you know if I get a response.

    Issue fixed!!!!!!!

Thanks to the help on this board and the Digital Content Manager at KCLU, I can now listen to KCLU on my SBB again.

Here is KCLU's quick response to my feedback:

    Hi John,

This is Andy, Digital Content Manager at KCLU. I’d like to thank you for your support and for being a devoted listener!

In regards to your streaming issue: the move to HTTPS was part of a transition to a standard set by NPR; the deadline was earlier in October. The HTTPS stream is a more secure link, and the major internet radios like Amazon Echo and Google Dot are compatible with it. Unfortunately, as you’ve seen, it seems that Logitech and some smaller companies are incompatible with HTTPS. That they have yet to update their compatibility to is unfortunate, but the move to HTTPS is part of a broader move by NPR towards more security, and we seek to remain in compliance.

However! After hearing from a number of listeners with issues like your own, we also decided to commit some resources to recreating an HTTP stream. The address on that stream has changed, which is why your Squeezebox can’t access it. I’ve tried sending Logitech support the new link, but have yet to hear back. In the meantime, here is the link itself http://kclustream.callutheran.edu:8092/kclump3

If there’s anything else I can help you with, or if you have further questions, please feel free to contact me by email or you can call my office at .

    Andy

It would seem that other NPR stations will be following this protocol. Whether or not they provide an alternate HTTP stream is unknown.

    Thanks again!!!

What happened to KCLU in Thousand Oaks?

    KCLU is https://kclustream.callutheran.edu:8090/kclump3

Go to http://mysqueezebox.com/settings/favorites and enter it there.

I have many stations in my favorites which aren't listed.

The best tool to use to find hidden music links is vlc.

    https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Under "stream" once the stream is playing, you will find the real location
    of the stream.

Sometimes it takes an hour or two to find a non flash stream but the time
    spent is well worth it.

One Classical station on Cape Cod refuses to use non flash streams but I
finally found one. That one took several months to get.

    But it's on My Favorites @ mysqueezebox.com.

Note: Adding Favorites to the LMS is a good idea but make sure you add it
to your mysqueezebox.com favorites as well.

If you can play the stream it is easy to save but unlisted streams have to
be entered with a web browser either on the LMS server's IP Address for LMS
favorites or at mysqueezebox.com for non LMS favorites.

    Best wishes

    David J Ring Jr, N1EA

There's lots of streams that cannot be played with just a Squeezebox, do yourself a favor and install Logitech Media Server. I am running Linux and I have LMS set up to record my favorite shows, I play them when I have time. The Cape Cod classical Station runs a CODEC that Squeezebox won't play on its own, so LMS is a must. Too many stations cannot be received without it. Plus I have all my music on LMS

Thanks for the advice but I am not the original poster. I was merely pointing out that adding the https stream to Mysqueezebox will not work.
