    Different problems with my Squeezebox

I have had my Squeezebox Touch for 3-4 years now, but have rarely enjoyed it for more than a week or two at a time because problems constantly arise.

I certainly do not claim that it's all due to the physical music system or the associated software; Most of the problems are probably due to all the changes that occur in Apple OSX, but I can not figure it out as a regular user.

In brief: From my desktop computer (iMac is always fully updated) I send the music to the Squeezebox in another room. This happens by opening Logitech Media Server in Firefox (55.0) via the same bookmark that I have used for years (http: // localhost: 9000 /). For a long time, I've been notified that there was no connection, so I have to open "System Settings" and start the server manually, but it does not work anymore. I have marked that the server should start with the computer, but it does not happen.

Before this occurred (today), I had to find that the LMS icon with access to Spotify was no longer available, and it was not possible to select Spotify from the list of available sources.

I do not understand what's happening and I'm gradually being a bit tired of my Squeezebox :-(

Thanks, Mnyp, but where do I find that and where/how to install? Pardon ;-)

P.S. Since I can't open LMS (see my original post) I am not able to go to the plugin tab.

macOS does indeed sometimes cause problems as it seems to re-set some of
the permissions on your system. This make LMS fail to write to its log
files, causing the startup to fail. Run the following commands from the
    terminal window:

    sudo mkdir -p ~/Library/Logs/Squeezebox
    sudo chown $USER ~/Library/Logs/Squeezebox

For more detail see eg. the following thread:

Hot thanks, Michael. My server is running now and I'm able to go to the plugins tab in Settings. Unfortunately I can't find the word "Spotify" on that page.

I'm currently running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.6. If I must install a newer version please tell me where to download it and how to replace. I recall that I will need to make a complete uninstall first?

Okay, but after all these years I'm still confused about how to upgrade LMS. Is it still reccomended to make a clean install? If yes, will http://support.logitech.com/en_ca/ar...00000069us5AAA (from 2014) still work?

I'd rather rely on the community than those outdated official support
    documents.

NO, a clean install is NOT required. Just download the latest from
    http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nig...ex.php?ver=7.9 and install
it. The update will trigger a new scan of your music library because
there have been changes in the database between 7.9 and older versions.
But that's it. Prefs etc. should all be used as before. I'm switching
    versions all the time.

As for Spotty: you'd find it in the 3rd party section of the plugins
page. In 7.7 you might need to enable that section. In 7.9 it's just
there. Please note that 7.9.1 is not required for Spotty to work, but
recommended. There are a few aspects of Spotty which would require the
update (eg. seeking within a track). But listening to Spotify content
    would run with 7.7.6, too.

7.7.5 is the last officially supported release. If you have a problem
with this version, you can all Logitech support and they would be
helping you. Starting 7.8 we did a "community release". Which means that
Logitech would not grant you support if you were using it. But don't
worry: community support is much better anyway (or you wouldn't be here,
would you? :-)). 7.9.1 is the latest community nightly build. Don't
    worry. It's stable.
