PcP v3.21 Moved cache & prefs to USB blocks 3rd party plugin installation

Tried, tested and verified. See also post http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...l=1#post892637
I'm running PcP3.21 with latest LMS 7.9.1 and due to a power outage i have my cache & prefs stored on attached USB stick.
Everything was running fine until i tried to upgrade Spotty plugin from v1.2.x to v1.3.x. Somehow this did not work.
Long story short, when i moved my cache & prefs back to the pi i was able to upgrade spotty.
After upgarde i moved prefs & cache back to usb stick and everything works ok.
For the whole story see See also post http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...l=1#post892637

So conclusion seems to be that moving prefs & cache to usb stick prevents installation of 3rd party plugin's (regular logitech plugin's seems not to suffer this problem).

What is the format of the drive ? Ext4 fat32 ?

One must probably make sure that the location is writable for the LMS user

PcP v3.21 Moved cache & prefsto USB blocks 3rd party plugin installation

I think FAT32 would be an issue. The error complained it wasn't able to
set permissions. FAT32 doesn't have support for permissions. That might
    indeed the reason.

Which means you can move the cache folder etc. but not on a FAT32 partition.

Just checked, it's vfat. Will try later what happens with ntfs and 3rd party. Still strange that the regular plugin installed normal.
Btw, choose for vfat just to avoid permission problems 😂

Yes, but Linux is just baby steps for me. Also not sure if I would need the stick to plug in a windows box later on.

The regular plugins don't need to be installed. They're installed with
    LMS, just not enabled.

Permissions always cause issues. Either lack thereof, or the inability
    to define them
