    LMS Compatibility Other Radios?

    Hello List,

I just saw that Grace Digital GDI-IRC7505 Stereo Wi-Fi Music System
    <https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017NTAKFA?th=1#> really has great reviews.
One fellow said that it even sounds better than the Logitech Boom -
which is really saying something. However the same reviewer says that
the BOOM is the best Internet Internet radio receiver, which if it isn't
best for sound quality, it's best for menus and features.

I wonder if Grace can be approached with picking up mysqueezebox.com and
making their radios integrate with the Logitech line including syncing
    with them.

If there are any programmers in the list, a sync with Grace Digital
units would be a great add-on to LMS.

LMS is great and the sync feature is wonderful

The ONLY problem with Logitech is lack of continued support. With the
Squeezebox Radio being discontinued, it doesn't look good for them to
support LMS for long - and we need the web site to sync (I believe).

The ONLY problem with the BOOM is power supply failure, eventual
    speaker failures, and LED failures.

This product makes my day smile, I love it so much.

It is basically my reason for getting up each morning and smiling!

It wakes me up and puts me to sleep as well as keeps me musicified
    during the day.

    Best wishes,

    David

Remember, the Squeezebox hardware was discontinued several years ago, but the LMS server is still alive and well, thanks to strong community support (including mherger who is also a Logitech employee....)
There is are several DIY options for adding additional players compatible with LMS (check the piCorePlayer threads, for example). There are also some bridging options people have made available on this forum. Haven't seen anything for the Grace Radio, however.

This product seems to be quite old - the manual shows BBC R4 streaming WMA and AAC - somehting that has been available for 2-3 years. Also no mention of chunked HTTP HLS/m3u8, Airplay or Chromecast support - which would make me think this is a product at end of life and there is no chance of updating the firmware.

That said, it is supposed to support uPNP - so try the upnpBridge plugin - I think control would have to be done from other devices and not the Grace radio.

I totally agree with your quote above. I love the music system that I have. I'd be very unhappy without LMS and my Squeezebox ecosystem. That system includes the iPeng remote control. I was very disappointed when LOGITECH discontinued its line of Squeezeboxes. I'm very thankful that LMS is still functional and mherger still oversees its functionality. My day begins and ends with music, etc thanks to my SB ecosystem. It would be nice if Grace products could be added to the ecosystem.

What caught my attention was that that particular Grace receiver sounded better than the Boom and that's a tall order.

We need something that sounds that way that will work with LMS and sync with other Logitech radios.

Did you not try or even check my suggestion. There are plugins that do sync for non Logitech "speakers" but sync depend on the underlying protoicols and upnp has shortcomings. I beleive the upnpbrideg can do the sync but has limitations. I believe the sync is better if the speaker supports airplay as there is an Airplay bridge plugin. The chromecast bridge plugin can also be used to sync via Chromecast sync but it is not quite the same.

Reading post #1, I don't think the OP actually owns one of these Grace radios
    Study/Server - LMS 7.9.1 - Raspberry Pi3/Pi screen/HiFiBerry DAC+/piCorePlayer 3.22/jivelite, 25K library on WDMyCloud, cache and playlists on a USB stick (formatted ntfs).
    Lounge - RPi 2/Max2Play > HiFiBerry DIGI+ > AudioEngine DAC1 > AVI DM5
    Dining Room - Boom
    Garage - Radio
    In car - LMS 7.9.1 > RPi3/Max2Play/Access Point plugin > HiFiBerry DAC+ > car's hifi (files on a 2TB portable USB drive)
    Spares - 1xTouch, 1xSB3

I tried to point out tthat the Grace products seemsm to be "end of life" and missing some "modern functionality" such as HLS/airplay/chromecast and that there was a way via plugin to use non LMS devices with LMS.

My followup post lists the various bridge plugins could offer the functionality OP seems to want but I am unclear what the OP actually wants. If it is screen, audio quality and sycn all in the same box - the reality is that there will be no more commerical LMS products so a compromise is necessary. Aside from DIY players there are plugins that when used with 3rd party devices that could meet what the OP is asking for but OP didn't even seem to check the plugin out and indicate where it doesn't fit.

    LMS Compatibility Other Radios?

What I found interesting is that a few people said that this unit sounds
    better than Logitech Boom.

Maybe someone will come out with a 100% comparable radio but with updated
features so we could replace the unrepairable Boom which suffers from
    speaker and display failures.

I don't have one of the Grace units. I just saw that a few said it sounded
even better than Logitech Boom which is great prIs praise.
