I am not thinking that it is a matter of performance, the problem occurred even while I reduce the instances to 4 and only one instance is playing.

Will try to log to a network volume, what logs would be interesting?

I don't know if these are relevant to your problem or if a simple reboot of the pi might resolve it.

I have seen it myself sometimes in the past but it has always cured itself (or appeared to).

I renamed the "MP3 Store" to "MusicStore", and shared it out in Explorer to the NFS - see attached.

    Any more pointers? I

Start with syslog and kernel logs and see where you go from there

    Wliptrot,

I would set a username and password for access, even if it is readonly

    Thanks.
    Yes, I'm logged into MySB.com
    Rebooting Pi didn't help.
Just seems to come and go Ś sometimes I get the correct list of my Apps, and sometimes just the "My Apps" icon.

    .

EDIT: ok, got it to work.
    After partitioning I ran mkfs.fat /dev/sda1 and then mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda2/

(this may be obvious to you linux guys, but this was my 1st time )

    Paul, Thanks for the suggestion.

If I format the stick ext3/4 (via SSH), then I won't be able to simply plug the stick into my Mac to add new music files.

I'm trying to format the stick with 2 partitions in linux with parted, and while this is successful, I can't get the stick to be read by my Mac.

I took a look at what you did with pCP, as I can read the fat16 partition on my Mac, but when I try to do the same on my stick it doesn't work.

    Here's what I tried:

    (parted) mkpart primary fat16 1 4000
    (parted) mkpart primary ext4 4000 8000
    (parted) print
Model: PNY USB 2.0 FD (scsi)
    Disk /dev/sda: 8167MB
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
    Partition Table: msdos
    Disk Flags:

Number Start End Size Type File system Flags
    1 1049kB 4000MB 3999MB primary fat16 lba
    2 4000MB 8000MB 3999MB primary ext4 lba

Tried also with fat32 and also with ext3
Looks like what you have in pCP (screenshot below), but what am I missing?
(Trying to have the cache on the linux partition and the music files on the fat partition so that its read/writable on my Mac)

Yes, you have to make filesystems after partitioning. Use fat32, and the second partition has to start at least +1 from the end of the first.
