    New AV Receiver Suggestions

I have a Sony AV Receiver - STR DN1030 - few years old now.
It does have a built-in UPNP-AV client but using it with the AV remote control is largely impossible for selecting music.
It sees LMS and presents a menu for Artists/Albums etc but has no search function and scrolls very slowly.

That is one good reason why you would want to use a different application to select and control things - unless they have greatly improved their TV UX.

Sony have a free iOS App (perhaps on Android as well) called Network Audio Remote - basically it is a UPNP-AV control point - and it works with LMS and can be used to tell the amp to play music from LMS (etc).

    Not fantastic but usable.

Others people have mentioned lots of others.
