Just wanna give some final feedback on my LMS issues. It's running nicely now, thanks to you guys for your help. However, there is something fundamentally flawed with the scanning process. Time varies on my system for a full clean scan between one and almost three hours. Especially the 'Database Optimize (1 of 2) constantly stalls when the black dots are just about halfway 'filled up'. Unless the reason for this is in some way related to how data is stored and distributed on NAS harddrives, there is something going wrong here and I doubt I am the only person experiencing these issues. Also, the 'abort scan' does not work, and this whole database 'optimization' (it should be named the opposite ;-) renders the whole NAS unresponsive for any kind of other operation.

You are still running the Synology Beta package?
Could you post a screenshot of the running rocesses when the nas becomes unresponsive?

@mherger which log option should we pick to debug the data optimalisation issue?

With 100k tracks you should have a minimum of 1GB of RAM and use the
"Maximum Memory" option in Settings/Advanced/Performance/DB. Using that
setting with little memory could cause swapping - not what you'd want.
It seems to be possible to replace the memory in the 416play. I'd give
    that a try.

The DB optimization step is extremely heavy on I/O: it's analyzing all
the data to improve read access (https://sqlite.org/lang_analyze.html),
followed by a vacuum to free unused disk space and optimize the data
storage in the db file (https://sqlite.org/lang_vacuum.html). This
second step in particular would basically copy the full db file in to a
new one, causing lots of reads on the old and writes on the new file.
What's the size of your library.db* files?

BTW: it's optimization for future use. You could technically skip it,
but this would potentially slow down every day usage.

There's none. As outlined above this step is basically two simple SQL
commands, but heavy ones. The process does not "stall", but it takes a
while and is monolithic. Therefore there's no progress shown.

    Ok, thanks for clarifying Michael.

@maximus good read here on replacing the memory: https://tylermade.net/2017/01/03/upg...16play-to-4gb/

    Hi pinkdot

I'm a happy user of LMS on a Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra. It works well (when I'm not messing up my NAS' configuration) and there are official Logitech/mherger releases and nightlies build for it every night.

But I recently also purchased a Synology DS 716+ II which in principle should be a much more up-to-date NAS. So I thought I would try installing LmsRepack on it.
Actually first time I try to install something not preinstalled on it, so might be stupid questions I have. Haven't spend much time on it. So far just been used as a network disk storage.

But I entered your repository URL and tried to install LmsRepack...

It first failed with a message saying I should install something else first. But it didn't tell what I needed to install?
Okay, I made a wild guess. It probably needs Perl!
So I installed Perl and tried installing LmsRepack again.
But now it tells me the package doesn't contain a digital signature?

    Hi Stig,

Just trust me as a Publisher, thats all.

In Package Center: go to ->settings -> set trust level to 'all pubishers'.

(my fault, I forgot to add this to the first post)

    Greetings,

    Martin
