    piCorePlayer screen rotation

What is your preferred default screen rotation?

    • 0 - brown ribbon cable at the bottom of the screen.
    • 180 - brown ribbon cable at the top of the screen.

The current piCorePlayer default is 180.

Note: To date, it seems that most screen mounts actually mount the screen upside, hence 180 being the default.

I have a v1 display and an original "official" black plastic case ... and the default (rotated 180 degrees) is right for me.
I can imagine that this would be the story for many early adopters - who may well also be the sort of people who come here.
But no big issue if this changes because early adopters are probably also able to work out how to adjust it back again.

I currently have two displays where I use the cables at the bottom.
Basically, this is because I like a custom build case where the connections are fitted in a more natural position (at the back of the enclosures):

Of course, with picoreplayer it is easy to change the orientation.

    Default screen rotation

    Hi Greg,

As I am using the Rasptouch casing the 0 degrees option is best for me.
And people using any other external display would prefer the standard 0 degrees too.
It is quite a task to rotate your 40+ inch TV.

With the rotation easily set in the web gui ( tweaks / jivelite ) of 320Beta the default is not the most important decision.
IMHO the location of the switch and easy acces to the documentation where to find that switch it is key.

    Regards MH

    The config command
    lcd_rotate=2
does not change the rotation for HDMI screen.

You can rotate jivelite on an HDMI screen using environment variables.

    See this post for details.

This is only for jivelite not the linux console/framebuffer.

    Thanks for the feedback guys,

I think we have implemented this correctly now, as we didn't get any complaints.

Well it "seems" correct to me, I would have preferred a default of "0" but that would have affected a lot of existing piCorePlayer setups.

    regards
    Greg
