    Codec order in 7.9

Hi - Trying to use more 7.9 (most of the time I'm using 7.7.6), I've been surprised by the codec order logic use with my bridges (to LMS, they look like squeezelite). I was assuming that the codec selected would be a "best fit" using the ordered codec list, but it does not seem to be the case.

For example, if the codec list is "pcm,flc,mp3" then mp3 files are converted to pcm. If I use "flc,mp3" then mp3 are sent as mp3. If I use "mp3,flc,pcm" then all files are converted in mp3. I have the default convert.conf and custom-convert.conf files, nothign changes from a default installation.

By "best fit", I was expecting that when playing a file, LMS would first go through the list of codecs and if a match is found, then it would use it. If no match is found, then it would take again the list and use the first codec for which it has a transcoding rule.

But according to what I've observed, it seems to be neither a "best fit" nor a "first fit"

    Is this a wrong assumption?

Where does that codec order come from? Is this the codecs the player are
    announcing to the server?

How does your custom-convert.conf look like? There's none by default.

There have been changes to the transcoding framework provided by
LMS0815. But that was almost two and a half years ago. I'd be very much
surprised if such a major issue had not been discovered yet?!?

I'm sorry Michael, I'm an idiot.I had an old custom-convert that I thought I cleaned but obviously did not. It was a mp3 to pcm rule
