    Selected audio codec: [mp3] afm: mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)

For the regular FIP station, TuneIn returns to URLs - midfi (as in the PDF and is 128k when I play it) and lofi.
    Perhaps LMS chooses one randomly.

If you enable debug logging for my plugin then you will see which stream URL is really being played.
(it gets redirected to a different host - but is the same stream)
For example - here is an edited log entry from when I was playing FIP (via a Favorite that points to a TuneIn reference)
    Code:
    [17-02-19 17:55:47.0042] Plugins::RadioFrance::Plugin::timerReturn (461) fipradio - timerReturn - client Kitchen stream changed to http://chai5she.lb.vip.cdn.dvmr.fr/fip-midfi.mp3
Paul, sorry, but a lot of that is over my head.

I'm working either with LMS through web browser to set URLs for Favorites and thence to the SB3 interface. Not "command line". So what URL do I use to get those 192k feeds? And/or are you implying that it's still better to go in via TuneIn?

As an example - with logging enabled in LMS for the RadioFrance plugin - I just did a search from LMS UI for "FIP Autour du Jazz" - and I then played it.
    It played
    http://chai5she.cdn.dvmr.fr/fip-webradio2.mp3
    which was redirected from
    http://direct.fipradio.fr/live/fip-webradio2.mp3
which is exactly the same URL as given in the PDF - which shows
    FIP autour du jazz WEBRADIO
    http://direct.fipradio.fr/live/fip-webradio2.mp3

There is nothing wrong with using the PDF - but, from my testing, it goes to the same place as LMS via TuneIn.

There /might/ be some cases where TuneIn returns more than one stream URL and LMS plays the lo-fi version - although I don't see that happening here.
So I think that most people will find it easier to use the built-in search function in LMS, especially if they don't come to the forum and happen to find the PDF.
If one day in the future we lose access to TuneIn then having the direct URLs will, of course, be very useful.

OK, I'll have a play around with a few things and see what I get. Thanks for taking the time.

You should see a version 1.8 appear soon.

I've changed the way that the setting "Select if you want to try using a pre-configured alternate URL for the data source" works so that if you enable this it tries to get data from both the primary and alternate source.

This should improve the chance of seeing song names/artwork when Jazz A FIP or other named shows a playing on FIP (mainly evenings).
Note - "La Nuit sur FIP" appears to have no track data at all - so don't expect artwork.

This does lead to some oddities - where the two sources have slightly different data for the same song (which can mean that the screen might update every 20 seconds with what looks at first glance to be the same data) ... so I have tried to minimise the effects of this but there might be some cases that slip through.

If this works well then I'll probably make it the default and remove the AlternateSource config item.

Also - the plugin is now in the list of 3rd-party plugins in LMS so you should remove it from your "Additional repositories" in the Plugin section of LMS config screen.

    France Inter streams

For exemple, each time I listen France Inter with Tunein, it grabs 32Kbps (Edit : not 64) stream, whereas with ths pdf's URL it always streams Ó 128Kbps (you can hear the difference). But you can also press the + button and select a better Tunein stream speed if you want, but one has to do it every time you change the radio station.

    URL is : http://chai5she.lb.vip.cdn.dvmr.fr/f...nter-midfi.mp3 (input as http://direct.franceinter.fr/live/franceinter-midfi.mp3)
Tunein : http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?...xx&filter=g266 [xxxxx... is my account #]
When you switch from one to the other, you noticed that Tunein one has a long delay compare to the one from pdf file.

By the way, France Inter stream not from pdf does include metadatas program names...

Concerning Fip web radios : have a look athttp://www.fipradio.fr/webradios and also the link at the bottom labeled 'notre nouvelle page "Titres diffusÚs"' sometimes pictures are differents from the ones display on squeezebox...
Edit: Working now with new "Radio France" plugin !

TuneIn returns both streams for FIP - as you saw when you hit the "+" - what I don't know is what criteria it uses for playing which one.
Right now it is playing at 128k here - from TuneIn.
I think LMS tests the streams to see if they work - but I haven't researched to see what it does with the result.

Here is an edited extract from the LMS logs with various debugging turned on showing it going through the process ...

Dont know neither. Maybe Tunein test the bandwidth available from your location ?
I have a percentage number at the end of each line, how can Tunein estimate that ?
They could also share the bandwidth when listerners number increase

Paul, 1.8 seems to deliver the track info etc more consistently. Good stuff!
Still seemingly pretty random in terms of quality, mostly either 128 or 192 MP3s.

On one recent 2 hour FIP listening session it picked up 3 pieces of cover art that 0.1.7 would have missed. So not a huge difference but all helps (can see it from the debug logs by searching for "Enriching").

    Hello Paul,

I have successfully activated the "Radio France track information" plugin (0.1.8) and it works beautifully.
    One feature request :
as an option, could you please offer to show Year (ie. "anneeEditionMusique") and Record Company (ie. "label") ?
I find it very nice to have these information concatenated to the Album Title, especially for FIP Radio, where music lovers really enjoy discovering new songs as well as indy record companies.
But overall, many thanks for this great plugin. Very well done.

    Regards, Sylvain
