You're running the released 7.9.0. There haven't been any updates to
    this build.

There's the release, and there are nightly builds. If you're running a
release (stable) version, then you'll only get notified once the next
stable release is out. Which has not happened yet.

If you're running nightlies, then you get the notification whenever
there's a new build (sometimes daily, sometimes less often).

Ah - forgot I rolled back to the last release. When I have some time, I will install the latest nightly and report back.

About to start up with the nightly builds again.
If I want to roll back, I noticed I have a bunch of 7.9.0 builds.
Is there a final "official" version of 7.9.0 that is preferred?

Currently on v7.9.0 r1488878280 - can't recall where I got it or if this was the last one.

That's the officially in-official release. But I'd go with 7.9.1
already. There are important updates for streaming of https sources in
there. If pushing out a release wasn't such a pain, I'd have done it
    already...
