    LMS Stopping and other weirdness

Just close those ports whether you believe it or not. If you don't, some
hacker could easily install a plugin on your system playing Bj÷rk's
"It's oh so quiet" while formatting your disk. Sounds fun?

lol understood, however I don't see any suspicious connections over the past week. Could it be these settings are cached on mysqueezebox.com?
Either way, I will disable those ports for now and see what happens the next time I install a nightly build.
In the meantime, where do the prefs from Picture Gallery get stored (files paths). Is there somewhere I could check to see if they still exist?
I did not get a chance to look at the Controller last night, so I don't know if the plugin somehow wound up back in it.

Re: allowing remote access, is there a better way to set this up other than port mapping and setting a user/password?

I still don't get it: you came here to report that LMS crashed. That it
installed plugins you didn't want to install. That those plugins were
using crazy settings (like scanning all your disks). And then you say
there was nothing suspicious? Next you'll be woken up in the middle of
the night to nightmarish music and still consider this normal?

    > In the meantime

Really, there's no meantime. Close those ports and report back if the
    issues haven't magically disappeared then.

    The prefs folder (see Settings/Information)

    VPN is your friend.

I am still struggling with similar issues too - IPeng showing no players, and needing to restart squeezebox.exe process (LMS) in Task Manager. I have found it all very difficult to pin down. I can go 3 weeks without issue, then it comes back. I just checked my LMS plugins and image browser was back too....now I have cleared it, and I'll keep an eye on it. Restarted a Controller too.

I don't have any open ports, and no new Directories added.

Could you please send me a copy of your state.prefs file? You can find
it in the Prefs' plugin sub-folder (see Settings/Information).

Everybody out there: can you tell me what other plugins you are using? Any additional repositories set up in Settings/Plugins?

I posted another thread re. my new updated version crashing but I thought I should respond here to your request (sorry if this isn't what you wanted).

    LMS addons:
    Additional browse modes
    amazon CD store
    customize device
    date and time
    digital inputs
    DSDPlayer
    flickr
    full text search
    last fm audioscrobbler
    line in
    live music archive
    live365
    local player -SqueezeLite
    music and artist info
    music info screen
    network test
    picture gallery
    playlist manager
    prevent system standby
    random mix
    rescan music library
    save playlist
    song info
    song lyrics
    song scanner
    spotify
    spotify protocol handler
    UPnP/DLNA media interface
    visualizer screensaver

    additional repositories is left blank

I'm not even sure if I need all of those addins, so let me know if some of them are suspect and I'll remove and see what happens. I know some of them were added for my squeeze duet controller, but since I started using iPenq on iphone, ipad etc. I no longer need/use the duet controller.

Quick update on this - I closed the Squeezebox ports on my router after my last post and everything has been fine since.

However, I have not seen any notices that a new version is available, nor have I updated to any of the nightly builds either.
If I manually check for updates through the Web UI, it also says no updated version available.
At some point I will install a nightly and see if those plugins get enabled again.

That said, how does the server determine when an update is available and why was I getting them fairly regularly before but not now?

    Currently holding at v7.9.0 r1488878280.
