HAve I missed any others ?

Unlikely that "casual" users will be able to listen to the stream.

The options on the questionnaire are:
Desktop iPlayer Radio App DAB Radio FM Radio Other Skip

Not the plugin....probably a standard set of categories. Thus I could not say BPA's wonderful plugin......
    Again, thanks.....

The LMS+Plugin+SB is a non BBC internet player - functionally same as any internet radio appliance - a bit unusual in that it is up to date with all formats.

As I understood the questionaire - it was about your "normal" predominant way of listening to Radio 3 - so "other" is the "most honest" as technically it seems they are interested in the playing appliance rather than the transport technology (i.e Desktop and iPlayer App are the same transport - DAB and FM are not.).

    Another BBC Blog entry http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/abouttheb...8-63f7555a93ec
If we offer this sound to the audience in lossless it will be over 1000kbps and we will be conveying it to the audience as the recording left us – in Radio 3 Concert Sound.
    Also
So, I hope you can give it a try and let us know what you think. If people like it we can consider if we might do more of it – though we’re making no promises at this stage. It matters to us on Radio 3 as we have already put the work in to record great performances in a great way – so if the audience can hear it that way, so much the better.

    Hi,

The proms FLAC trial is working fine for me on the touch.

    Thank-you for making this possible.

Could the binaural proms trial be made to stream via the squeezebox in a similar way?

The flac stream is playing perfectly for me (in the UK). I notice there's no skip back facility. I guess that's not available in this stream format.
LMS 7.9.1 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 17.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps. Touch & EDO. 2nd Touch standard.
LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to A308CR amp & ESLs) & Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers.
Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers.
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.
Wireless Xubuntu 17.04 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.

technically the plugin can handle it - BBC just doesn't provide the buffer.

Skipback depends on BBC maintaining a time buffer of the last XX secs. When you skip back - the plugin request a chunk with a specific timecode and then plays sequentlially from there. Wirh AAC the time buffer is currently about 3 Hours. With Flac it is 10 minutes.

According to the text - it is provided as standard using the normal 320kbs AAC stream. Nothing special to do - it is just a different mix for a few concerts.
You will only hear audio when there is a concert being streamed on the experiment. You will not hear “normal” BBC Radio 3 - this experiment tries to recreate the experience of being at the Royal Albert Hall in London, so you won't get the announcements before or during the programme or the interval talk.
If you can find the URL to be played - I can test it.

    edit:

If you want to test. BBC have a page of test binaural program http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/arti...binaural-sound

To play - try the following iplayer:// URLs either as a favorite or "Tune-in URL"

    Stravinsky: Rite of Spring iplayer://aod?dash=http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/mediaset/audio-syndication-dash/proto/http/vpid/p0474jlt
    Bach Komm, Jesu, Komm iplayer://aod?dash=http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/mediaset/audio-syndication-dash/proto/http/vpid/p0474j2m
    Schubert : Symphone No: 9 iplayer://aod?dash=http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/mediaset/audio-syndication-dash/proto/http/vpid/p044hj5f

    edit 2:

It is not broadcasting but I'm pretty sure this is the binaural DASH stream. It may or may not play but there is no point trying before 19:00 18-July-17

    https://vs-dash-ww-rd-live.bbcfmt.hs...t_manifest.mpd

if then then like Radio 3 Flac somehting like the following may work - make it a Favorite

    iplayer://live?dash=http://vs-dash-ww-rd-live.bbcfmt.hs.llnwd.net/al/proms/client_manifest.mpd&icon=http://radio-service-information.api.bbci.co.uk/logos/bbc_radio_three/600x600.png&radiovis=fm/ce1/c203/09100&onair=bbc_radio_three

Why not try out the binaural items that are available now - enjoy the coughing of the audience next to you.
