I've reproduced your squeezelite output with my USB DAC (using the no conversion device) and it plays OK for me. So back to square one.

Do you mean uncheck "Allow Transcoding". Will give it a try.

    That didn't work.

It usually plays for 2 minutes and 25 seconds and then stops.

Is this the debug you were looking for:

    Starting Squeezelite: /usr/local/slimserver/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin/squeezelite-armv6hf -o front:CARD=A10,DEV=0 -f /usr/local/slimserver/Logs/localplayer.log -d output=debug

    /usr/local/slimserver/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin/squeezelite-armv6hf -o front:CARD=A10,DEV=0 -f /usr/local/slimserver/Logs/localplayer.log -d output=debug
    [07:38:43.269049] output_init_alsa:640 init output
    [07:38:43.269325] output_init_alsa:663 requested alsa_buffer: 40 alsa_period: 4 format: any mmap: 1
    [07:38:43.269402] output_init_common:342 outputbuf size: 3528000
    [07:38:43.292783] ALSA snd_pcm_hw_open:1601 open '/dev/snd/pcmC1D0p' failed (-16)
[07:38:43.292884] test_open:124 playback open error: Device or resource busy
[07:38:43.292937] output_init_common:373 unable to open output device

I'm not around for the rest of the weekend so won't be able to test any more for a couple of days, by which time there won't be much trial time left so not sure further testing will achieve anything.

If the BBC ever provide a permanent service I'll be glad to test further. I do have playback on Windows 10/Squeezelite Stand Alone if I need it.

(One last throw of the dice, as the Pi and Windows 10 are next to each other I'll put the USB DAC on Windows, see it it works there).

Thanks for all your help as usual.

Just to let you know, I am also getting the stream cut off at about 2:25 each time. This is on an RPi2 running Max2Play outputting to a Hifiberry Digi+ (if it makes a difference). The dropout seems to be the same whether transcoding is allowed or not.

What would be useful for you in finding out what is going on?

Glad to know I'm not alone.

As my DAC is external I have changed it over to Windows 10 and it works perfectly as a player on my PiCore Server.

It also works perfectly connected to my PiCore or Max2Play servers for BBC DASH streams and FLAC music Tracks so could be something in the Pi Kernel or Squeezelite binaries - but above my head I'm afraid.

Must get on with my chores now or I'll be in the dog house.

Your log shows that squeezelite failed to open the ALSA device ! I think the is the source of the problems.

There are two types of failure and group of symptoms and people are mixing the two

    1. Fail to play stream totally - stream does not play at all
    2. Fail after playing a few minutes of thre streams.

The first total failure (usually when squeezelite is on same system as LMS such as LocalPlayer) is the one that I can't reproduce.

The second type where failure happens after a time - I think is the 404 issue. Please check LMS log. I have a fix for this and just doing more testing.

Unless you have disabled native Flac playaback or using an SB1 - "Allow Transcoding" will do nothing and has nothing to do with Flac

These are the 404 errors and I have a fix for this. The temporary measure is to increase the "live stream delay " setting to to 2 mins or higher it is occurs.

Using Squeezelite on a Raspberry Pi
    Previously using version 1.5.2 successfully.

I've just tried to update to the experimental version and that failed. So I've tried to go back to 1.5.2, loading the repo. http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...lease-repo.xml

That fails. I get version v1.3.1valpha3

    What's going wrong?

You've done a bad cut&paste - the url has the "..." instead of the full URL.

Use 1.5.3 ( I need to do a proper release)
