    Webapp for LMS ?

    Hi All

Is there a webapp (like Runeaudio's) for the LMS or can the standard web page be adapted as such ?

Sorry if this has been asked/answered elsewhere (if it is I can't find it !)

    Hi Pippin

Not sure if WebApp is a definition or not, however.
The Runeaudio system can install a "webapp" from the browser in my case Firefox into the windows 7 system (sorry should have said that)
Which mimics the web gui almost exactly but is run as an application.
I do not use runeaudio as you probably guessed from my signature box but I do like the idea of the "webapp"
I know there is squeezeplayer and softsqueeze but they are not quite the same.

Ok, yea, that's what I'd call a Webapp, too. The Win7 bit was missing

There used to be the Fluid app, which basically created a "standalone" application based on the Firefox browser. I think similar projects exist based on Chromium. I personally never figured out what the great advantage would be.

FWIW: we used to ship such an application with I think LMS (or Squeezebox Server at the time) <=6.x on Windows. Unfortunately that was based on an outdated IE rendering engine, causing us so much headaches we eventually dropped it.

    Hi

I thought that it might have been a standalone app based on Firefox.

They are a number of advantages to this approach on a desktop or tablet :-

When you "close window" on your Firefox icon in task bar you don't kill the gui as the "Webapp" has its own icon.
You do not have to search through lots of tabs or browser windows to get back to the app, just click the icon in the taskbar.
    Can run "on startup"
Has no clutter from browser etc.

I was only "playing" with my raspberry pi and Runeaudio but thought that this would be a good idea for LMS only after about 10 seconds !

Isn't Squeezeplay (as a controller) on Windows/Mac and Jivelite on multiple platforms essentially just that ?

Dining Room -> SB Boom Kitchen -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio)
Bedroom (Bedside) - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones

No, These both emulate the Squeezebox Touch not the Web GUI

Ok so you want the web interface in its own instance of Firefox or similar but without menu items.
Create a bookmark in Firefox (or whatever) with this as the URL (modified for your LMS)

    javascript:window.name='receiver';window.open('htt p://10.0.0.3:9000','"LMS"','status=1,resizable=no,widt h=900,height=600,left=508,top=122');void%200

In Chrome you can use the javascript url as a start up page. The pop up blocker in Firefox wont let you.
