I see what you mean hotspot shows up on my phone any time the device is on in the Wifi mode and I can't see a means of turning it off.

Your signature doesn't indicate that you have one of these. Do you have a GGMM device?

I've emailed support, in Germany. I'll post here if I get any meaningful reply.

Don't really need any more wifi around here, everyone's got one and as a former telecomms engineer I'm pretty well versed on spectrum/interference et al.

Edit: Not to mention battery conservancy.

Yes -- I've got the GGMM E3 . Probably set up like yours via the upnpbridge. Quite decent sound for the price!

I've now found the GGMM-E5, which together with Phillipe's UPNP plugin works perfectly on my FLAC (44.1/16) music collection and bpa's BBCiPlayer (latest experimental FLAC streams on BBC Radio 3).

It's sounds pretty reasonable to my septuagenarian ears and works perfectly from a web gui or as an LMS android app on my phone.

It can also run on Bluetooth (Wash my mouth out) and aux in and even acts as a chargepak for charging your mobile.

It doesn't have a display though.

GGMM have other models with similar functionality.

    LMS continues to evolve.

Thanks to Phillipe, bpa Michael and others for the continuing support.
BTW, the GGMM-E5 is now supported in AirPlay mode, so you can have synchronization with other LMS players

I got a quick reply from their support which confirmed that the internal Wifi hotspot cannot be turned off only "hided" sic.

Not certain but this may be analogous to how Chromecasts work and how they provide Near Field Communication.

The hotspot is probably pretty low power for this reason.

Thanks for that Phillipe. Not sure I need it yet.

Still trying to figure out how to use the Alexa mode and how to move from one wifi router to another.

Apparently it's fine in Seattle today.

With the latter you should, as far as I know, see the NP30 as a player in LMS. I've never seen the bridge from a player.

You are right (unfortunately). I am now back to square 1 with the NP30 showing as a player in LMS, but no sound from the NP30 ie bridge not working!

With most players it is a matter of finding the right combination of parameters in the UPnP bridge configuration. There are quite a few, so it isn't always easy, but most people have found a combination that works for their player. Start from the default configuration, take a look at the user manual again and try one change at a time.
LMS 7.9.1 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 17.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps. Touch & EDO. 2nd Touch standard.
LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to A308CR amp & ESLs) & Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers.
Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers.
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.
Wireless Xubuntu 17.04 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
