Although I recommend to remove all running installations of LMS before installing LmsRepack,
you could try to install LmsRepack alongside the official Synology package. It might work. Both installations are installed in seperate folders. So you could test if everything, like ITunes, will work.

To do this: stop the Logitech Media Server 7.7.3 in the Package Center first! After this, install LmsRepack and test everything you want.

To be on the safe side: make a back up of 7.7.3:

Use ssh or telnet to get into your nas.
The two direcorties which need to be copied are:
    Code:
    /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/prefs
    /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache
To copy these folders to your public share:

    Code:
    cp -r /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/prefs /volume1/public
    cp -r /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache /volume1/public
    If everything goes wrong:
    To restore your 7.7.3 prefs:
Before installing the official Synology Logitech Media Server 7.7.3:
    Code:
    cp -r /volume1/public/prefs /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter
    cp -r /volume1/public/Cache /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter

      Pinkdot,

Did you mean "Before starting the official Synology Logitech Media Server 7.7.3", as you did not suggest uninstalling it in the first place?

From what you are saying it appears to me that another way of doing this could be:
      1. Make copy of two LMS7.7.3 folders
      2. Uninstall LMS7.7.3
      3. Restart NAS
      4. Install LMS7.9 ... and hopefully we do not have to go back ti LMS7.7.3, and we delete copies of LMS7.7.3 settings

      If it goes wrong:
      • Uninstall LMS7.9
      • Restart NAS
      • Install LMS7.7.3
      • Restore copied LMS7.7.3 settings (Will this work? Or, first restore settings and then install LMS7.7.3? Will this work if directory "SqueezeCenter" was deleted during uninstall?)

        Hi VSMI,

        Sorry if I was unclear:

I asume you have Logitech Media Server 7.7.3 installed:
(Backup your prefs of LMS 7.7.3 first)
(All stop/start and install/remove actions are carried out in the package center)
        • Stop Logitech Media Server 7.7.3 in the Package Center
        • Install LmsRepack
        • Start LmsRepack, DON'T START LMS 7.7.3 AGAIN!
        • Test anything you want to test in LmsRepack

        If anything goes wrong:
        • Uninstall LmsRepack
        • Start LMS 7.7.3
        • If anything went wrong.
        • Stop LMS 7.7.3
        • restore your backuped files
        • Start LMS 7.7.3

          Pinkdot,

I tried to copy setting but i get permission denied:
          DiskStation> cp -r /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/prefs /volume1/public
cp: can't create directory '/volume1/public': Permission denied

I am logged in as administrator. What is the issue here?

I did it with the help of my UNIX-knowing wife. So then I initiated installation of LMS7.9 and i got "Failed to install". So, maybe i need to uninstall LMS7.7.3 and restart NAS?

UPDATE: Installed, and currently scanning iTunes library. Fingers crossed...

                Thanks for the update

i did it for my Synology DS215j
i deinstalled the old one and do it via allow third party updates etc.
The paket source was the pinkdot thing and the update was shown directly.
Allthough i did not restart the Diskstation i installed the update without problem.
Nearly everything was fine - even i can play dsf Files now !
The only thing i had to mention on ipeng was that sometimes the covers don't show. In the folder list yes but on the single file view on ipeng not.
i don't know if this is new because my ipad is gone with my wife to holliday - and so i have to handle my whole thing with the iphone (argh).
And for ipad i handle the covers with 700px in square. Maybe some of them are (all are under 200k) to big for ipeng.

Thanks alot because it seems to be more stable than the 7.73. I sometimes have on the newest offical one on HD flac breaks (24/192).

                  Pinkdot,

All is working well! No issues with iTunes and Spotify by Triode plugins. So, I guess, now we know that Synology's LMS and your LMS can be both installed. I still have to configure my two Duos and fine-tune LMS settings, but it looks that the scariest part is behind me.

                  Thank you very much, again...

                    Windows SqueezePlay working?

                    Hi,

I just wondered if anyone has tried Windows Squeezeplay (7.8.0r539) and it's worked OK?

I'm currently using the 7.9 repack and it's absolutley fantastic!

The only think I can find that doesn't work is Windows Squeezeplay on Windows 8.1 64 bit. I can't connect to the server with it. It's strange because it I add a password to the server, then Windows Squeezeplay asks for the password but then still fails to connect after adding the password at the prompt! Had it working before with SSODS and LMS 7.8.

My 3 Squeezebox Radios, an RPi2 with Squeezeplug and Orangesqueeze on Android all work fine.... Just would be nice to have Windows Squeezeplay working too...

If anyone else is working fine in this regard, then maybe it's something that I'm doing and I need to investigate...

                    Cheers

Will, you might want to try disabling your anti-virus. I have not gotten around to test Pinkdot's repack LMS, yet, but for me Bitdefender and Squeezeplay did not work together on Win7 at least (with the Synology LMS).
I wonder whether someone could update Squeezeplay as well. BTW, does the Joggler skin work for you?

This indeed might be an issue caused by a blocked port. I don't think this is related to LmsRepack. Does this problem still exist when the password is disabled?

I don't think Squeezeplay will be updated. I used it all the time In my Ubuntu/openSUSE laptop, but I switched to Squeezelite.

Thank you... Yes it was AVG. If I disable it, squeeze player works fine. Odd though as I disabled AVG but left the firewall active which resolves the issue. If I disable the firewall only (which I tried before posting here) it doesn't help!

Adding the 9000 and 3483 ports and squeeze player app hasn't helped either!

I'll keep trying... Defo just an AVG issue anyway!

                          Thanks again

                            Hello!
I use this Repo for LMS 7.9 on Synology DS212+ With DSM 5.2-5592. I copied to the NAS one DSD album in DFF format. But there is no it in LMS database after even full scan. What did I do wrong?

Probably not much. The official Synology package - where LmsRepack is based - comes with an older version of the audio scan, which is needed for dsd support. Don't know if I can do anything about that.
