more on AlienBBC and OS X mplayer install

    Okay, I did the following:

    wget http://love.str3am.com/asx/xpn.asx

    then I did:

    mplayer -playlist xpn.asx

It churned filling the cache for over 5 minutes! But since then it has
    been playing this stream beautifully...

So mplayer on OSX from the fink install does work.

So I am not sure what is happening with AlienBBC...

    Ideas?

    Jules?

    Aha! Progress.

Well... maybe. It's likely that that stream isn't RealAudio, so you
still might have a codec problem.

Try it with a BBC stream:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/realplayer/media/fmg2.rpm

    So... mplayer -playlist
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/realplayer/media/fmg2.rpm

Is that works, then we're down to other stuff - but we'll cross that
bridge when we come to it.

I did forget to say that the path to mplayer has to be given correctly.

Is that stream a Real Audio stream? The BBC streams are Real Audio.
My problem with mplayer is quite clearly that it does not find the
    relevant codec.

So if you've got a Real Audio stream working, it would be useful to
know what name your codec has and where it is.
