[Announce] What Was That Tune? plugin

Here's something else to play with:

What Was That Tune? - Keep track of what was playing while you were too busy to check the display.

How often did it happen to you that you were listening to some radio station, heard a great track, but didn't have a chance to check the display to figure out what it was? "What Was That Tune?" does give you the answer. It keeps track of all recently played tracks, local or from a radio station. And it then gives you easy access to your play history to:

    - find the track on your preferred streaming service
    - look up information about the artist using the Music & Artist Information plugin (highly recommended anyway ;-))
    - get any other information you'd get from the context menu while the track was playing

Yes, it's that simple. No audioscrobbler killer. Just a little tool to not loose track of what you just missed. If you want to not keep track of the ads being broadcasted or station related information, you can add keywords to be used as a filter in the plugin's settings in the web UI.

I've only just cobbled this together, there hasn't been much testing at all. Thus I'd be very interested in how it works eg. with services like Pandora etc. Please let me know!

    Have fun!

Nice idea, my squeezebox is going to look like an advert for your work soon.

Not tried it yet but I presume this can work at the same time as last.fm scribbling?

Does it have any options to set what gets logged at all? I already scrobble to last.FM for local music so it would be handy for this to log non local stuff only.

    Yes, they're totally independent.

No, it's really simple right now. But I'll start a to-consider list for
    it now.

Since I posted I've installed it and given it a whirl. Excellent, I can see all songs I've played without cluttering my last.FM profile with stuff played on the radio, so excellent and a big thumbs up.

Just one more question if I may, the settings to exclude part, will that ignore the whole song or just strip that part from the entry. For example Absolute Radio in the attached screenshot. If I add "adbreak" and "back-soon" will that eliminate most non song entries in the list?

I have noticed Absolute radio (the classic rock channel at least) seem to send artist and title as the name of the song and the station name as the artist. Not a problem as it still works.

I only had a quick look at the playlog plugin. Yes, it sure does similar
things. But WWTT is much simpler. It does the things I wanted, the way I
wanted :-). I didn't like PlayLog's UI. PlayLog does provide some links
to external sources (IIRC), WWTT does integrate with my MAI plugin.

Very cool plug-in (I'm so glad to see that new development continues with this product). Is there a way to see the listing on either the Touch or SB radio display?

Yes there is, you can find it under "My Apps".
