I have been attempting to install LMS on my new Mageia 3 server which boasts perl 5.16. Are there any efforts in progress to port

The buildme.sh script fails, with compile errors on many of the C parts of the modules, which do not appear to be straightforward to fix.
Installing CPAN modules by hand failed too - as some are not known to CPAN.

Does anyone knowledgable have any useful advice on how to proceed? The only way I can think of is to compile an older version of
perl from source and use that.

And perhaps I have missed this, but there does not appear to be any useful set of installation instructions anywhere. The wiki
page [xurl]hxttp://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Linux_Installation_Guide[/xurl] has apparently not been updated since 2006!

In particular any suggestions of how to manage the server from systemd instead of SysV init scripts would be welcome.

I tried searching for several radio stations from the WebUI. The result is that it always searches for the literal string {query} whatever search string I enter. Thus if I search for KQED or KDFC or another call sign, all I get is a list of podcasts with the the word query in the title, including (ironically) "Life's Eternal Query" by Masson, Thomas L. and "Jenny Rappaport on Writing a Strong Query Letter." You get the idea.

When I use smb, I can connect to the server using the machine's name.

It's just a warning but squeezeboxserver stop after this message.

On my Ubuntu Oneiric server with Perl v5.12.4 i get the error like above, on a actual Ubuntu Raring (Perl v5.14.2) it woks fine.

Any tips what I can do to run it under Oneiric?

There was a version where you could "drag" songs up (or down) within the playlist panel instead of using the stupid up down arrows that only allows you to move a title one spot at a time. This was a lame omission IMO. Anybody know what version that was that had that feature and why it was omitted? Didn't there used to be a "Progress Bar" also, where you could scan the current song? It just seems like this software has gotten worse, not better. Are the old versions still available?

I setup a Logitech Media Server (v7.7.2 - r33893) on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, using a Raspberry Pi with Squeezelite as a player.
All works great.

Now I want to play a bit with the various transcoding options, which is one of the great features of the server software.
For example, I wanted to try resample to 44.1KHz some MP3 stream that are in 48KHz, and cause some stuttering on the Rasberry Pi.

So, I started with something like this in the custom-conver.conf:

        [lame] --mp3input --decode --silent -t $FILE$ -

And all works well. I see in the info output of Squeezelite that is receiving a PCM stream instead of an MP3 one, so the conversion is done.
Then I want to add sox in the mix to change the rate and output the final result in FLAC:

But this don't work. I see that Squeezelite receive a flac stream, but nothing is heard and the play stop after few instants.
I searched in the forums, look up the docs & the convert.conf file, tried some variations but I don't seems to get it working.

Any help?

I feel really out of my depth here.
I have just installed Logitech Media Server on a netbook running Ubuntu.
I have managed to install it OK, and can stream Spotify etc.
However, it only runs on the web interface, and I can't find out how to get it to scan and find my own music, which I have loaded into the Music folder in Ubuntu.
Any help gratefully received.

For me it's like a few seconds vs. a few minutes. But feel free to run the
install as often as you like.

That's what it usually does. Therefore you should check the server.log for
specific error messages, trying to understand what's wrong instead of
hitting the sledgehammer every day.

The prefs are not reset during installation. Really I'd bet the restart
part of the installation is all that is needed.
