Just wondering if anyone has been running the current Ubuntu 12.04 LTD with any version of Squeezebox successfully, and if they would care to share stories.
Cheers...pl

I used the desktop, it had a strong tendency to crash. After sending the n-th crash report to Canonical I got bored and tried downgrading, which did not go well.

For server use I wouldn't know how stable the beta is. For Desktop use, now I know I can wait...

As I plan to move to 12.04 quickly (it's cool once you get over the interface shock), I have

(1) Done an install on my test PHP development machine, and over the last week or so I have not noticed any stability problems as of the current beta. All 4 hours I have spent on it, mind...

(2) Done an experimental install of 12.04 desktop (32 bit) and LMS 7.7.2 on a Lenovo X60s I had lying around. Both installs were a total breeze, and LMS worked from the getgo (just one album for testing though).

In fact I'd say this was the fastest, least eventful install of Ubuntu and SBS-LMS I have ever done!

Hello

Ubuntu newbie (using Squeezeserver on PC/Windows for years though). Have installed the server, running fine except cannot locate my external HD from within LMS to add music files. Drive appears to be mounted fine within Ubuntu... can click though all of my files, etc. but does not appear when I go into LMS to add music folder.

Can you help?

Thanks!

Change the permission on the external drive .LMS runs as it own user and does not have read permissions .
You don't need to make it rw for everuone but but make it readable for everyone .
If you have your playlist directory on th external drive it should be writeable to (otherwise you cant save playlists )

If it is a USB drive don't automount edit fstab to get it mounted that way with the correct permissions

which ubuntu version are you using? i found on previous version the "NTFS Configuration Tool" is a very neat shortcut to deal with external NTFS drives. Depending on your release and your formatting choices your mileage might vary. Otherwise you'll have to read up on editing fstab stuff (ugh!).
