I have been pulling my hair out trying to get my SB receiver to work on my wireless network and figured out a solution that I will share with others having similar problems.
Because the SB receivers are relatively old compared with new network standards you have to make sure your wireless network (that means wireless router) has to be configured to work in a mode that is compatible with the SB receiver.
Every wireless router is different, but basically you have to get it setup to work in 2.4g range. You can use a program like inssider to see how your network is setup, and how it fits with other wireless routers in close proximity to you. You should change the default channel to 11 or some outside the norm channel. For example, my problems started when I bought a brand new expensive CISCO wireless router from best buy. It supports wireless N AND 2.4g ranges...I had to dork around to get the 2.4g range to work in a different channel to elim any conflict with neighbors, and I had to set it up for B+G.
Then, I reset my Sb controller to factory default to go through the setup again. Press the button on the SB receiver and hold for 10 seconds to get it in setup mode...it will flash red. Then when you setup the controller, at some point it will ask you the name of receiver...you will probably see the last digits of the mac address..choose it.
Once I got this right, the music stopped starting-and-stopping, and the SB receiver stayed connected performing as designed.
