View Full Version : Can the Touch transcode 96/24 Flac on it's own?

I'm wondering if the Touch is able to stream 96/24 Flac on its USB drive to any of the older Squeezeboxes.
This would involve some transcoding to lower sample- and bitrate I guess?
Is it able to do so (don't own a Touch so cannot test) ?

The Touch can serve up 24/96 to other players but it can't transcode/downsample.

'Other players' would only include other Touches, right?
So it wouldn't be able to stream 24/96 Flacs to a Classic?
"Other players" would also include Transporters. And you're correct that a Touch couldn't stream 24/96 to a SB3/Classic, because the SB3/Classic tops out at 24/48, and the Touch can't downsample or transcode.
