View Full Version : wave input plugin - 20s latency

Hi!

I'm using the wave input plugin together with Virtual Audio Cable to send the output of winamp to my squeezebox receiver.

I have a huge gap from the time I press play untill the music comes out of my speakers. I've set the buffer for internet radio to 3.

I'm stumped when it comes to configuring the wave input plugin. There's no "wavin-convert.conf" file in the wave input plugin directory.

Any help appreciated! :)

Peter

I doubt that wavin is causing 20 sec delay.

First just using a native PC OS (not virtual PC stuff), Wavin input, wave input standard config (i.e. no user mods), no altered transcoding and a hardware SB player - time the difference between a keyboard beep from PC speaker and output from speaker attached to SB player. Then report back the time delay.

System info can also help
- OS
- PC spec.
- PC audio h/w

I'm down to a 1-2 second delay now (which is acceptable)

The 20 sec latency was caused by

- the Internet Radiobuffer in SlimServer (resp. for 3 sec)
- virtual audio cable (respo. for 2-3 seconds)
- unkown factors. The delay was there even with input from my microphone (no virtual hardware units)

I'll see how things work from now on and maybe return.

@bpa: thank you for replying so promptly! :)
