The FAQ at http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_faq.html says this about
the Squeezebox geek connector:

Are there any extra pins on the CPU, or ways to expand Squeezebox?

Squeezebox has an internal expansion connector - the Geek Connector
- which will be supported with a future firmware revision. The
Geek Connector provides power, i2c, rs-232, IR out/in, audio
^^^^^^^^^
in/out, and general purpose I/O.

A recent posting to the developer group has this pinout:

1 gnd
2 +5V
3 +3.3V
4 +2.5V
5 synchronous serial debug output, clock
6 synchronous serial debug output, data
7 i2c clock
8 i2c data
9 infrared input/monitor
10 general-purpose i/o (doesn't do anything yet)
11 s/pdif enable indicator (may be used to drive remote amplifier turn-on)
12 s/pdif output 0 to 3.3V
13 ethernet activity LED (may be re-purposed later)
14 ethernet link LED ""
15 decoder reset line (not really useful)
16 mixer input: analog left
17 mixer input: analog right
18 mixer input: s/pdif (0-3.3V CMOS input)

My question: Where is the IR output?

I was hoping to be able to use a Squeezebox (with custom software)
to power on my reciever and act as an alarm clock. Is there really
IR output? The FAQ says yes, but the pinout doesn't seem to show
it.

Alex,

The geekport is not fully supported yet.

Yes there will be IR output. Right now you can monitor the internal IR
signal or inject your own signal (eg for a keypad). Output for an IR
"blaster" will be added down the road.
