When sqeezebox server was originally setup on my home server it had the path of \\server\music as it's source directory to scan for new music and when I started the scan it started to scan that directory. I noticed I didn't want it to scan that directory since I have some mp3's in that directory and I don't want them to show up in my list of albums. I only want my FLAC files to show up. So I went back into the scanning area setup on my home server and chose the option for my nusic files of \\server\flac and also chose the option CLEAT LIBRARY AND RESCAN EVERYTHING.
However, when I look at the albums that appear in the squeeezecenter software I can see the mp3 albums in there. I can't delete them. How do I delete the mp3 files and only keep my FLAC files in the database?
"Clear libary and rescan everything" is exactly what you want to use. If it doesn't work then there are either MP3s somewhere in the directory tree, you have a link or shortcut pointing to the files, or a playlist that contains a reference to them. If you've never created a shortcut and you're sure that the MP3s are outside of the music folder directory tree, then playlists are the most likely culprit.

Thanks for the information.
I'm also wondering if I want to update one disc or even one song's metadata. Let's say the artist or the title. How do I get the squeezeserver software to "see" those updates? I don't want to have to delete and recreate the database every time I do one tiny update. How can I get the software to just scan for metadata changes?
It's really a shame the changes can't be put in via some squeezeserver tool.
Does anyone know if I can search for albums, tracks to play using the composer metadata? I don't see it listed anywhere.

Then you use the "Look for new and changed music" scan.

This will only work if the time stamp on the file has also been changed. Most tagging apps will preserve the created and modified time stamps of the files (and rightly so). 7.5 saw some changed in this area, but I think it is 7.6 that will be alerted to changes to your library and update in the background rather than having to actively rescan.

No - it's a very deliberate and correct design decision. As SBS has no update capability it cannot acidentally damage your music library.
You can install all manner of other software instead! - the difference is that any damage will be caused by you not by a bug in sbs...
