View Full Version : Tag problems with slimserver

I have some problems with slimserver (v. 5.30b1)... Tags are not
displayed correctly in the web client (and on the squeezebox) for most
of my mp3 collection, however when I use other mp3 library tools like
iTunes or MusicMatch, all my tags are ok. What can I do to correct
this? I have tried to rescan and wipe the cache, but it did not correct
the problem.

chances are you have utf-8/unicode characters in your tags. these are not yet
supported in slimserver, but the effort is ongoing. In the meantime, something
like Tag & Rename does tagging in a way that works very well with slimserver.

In fact when I look in the slimserver log (I have enabled d_info and
d_scan...) most of the "genre" tag are not read by slimserver...

I believe its marked as bug 503 on bugs.slimdevices.com and its currentlyunder
discussion in the thread "any japanese users..."
unfortunately, there is no deadline, but the more ppl who join in to help, the
faster it will be done.

UTF8 characters in MP3 ID3 tags are now supported assuming that they
map to characters in the Latin1 character set.
What's teh specific problem that you are seeing? What's wrong with
what you see?
