I have two SB radios and one SB Boom which I have successfully connected to
my wireless network. I have also installed SB Server on my main computer.
I currently have all my music file on an external USB hard drive connected
to my main computer using iTunes. I have a wireless/wired network
successfully connecting (wireless and wired) this computer and three other
computers plus my three SB players. I have just installed a Western Digital
1.5TB My Book World Edition Network Attached Storage drive on my network and
can access this NAS drive on each of my four computers. I plan to transfer
my music files from the external USB hard drive connected to my main
computer to the NAS drive. The main reason I installed this NAS drive was
to be able to access all my music files on my three SB players without any
of my four computers being powered on. All my computers run Windows (XP,
Vista and 7).

As I understand it, to access these music files on my SB players, I have to
have SB Server program running and change the music source on my SB players
from Mysqueezebox.com to Squeezebox Server. If I have all my computers
powered off, the SB server program will obviously not be running. It
appears I would need to install the SB server program on the NAS drive.
However, there is currently no operating system on this NAS drive, so
installing SB server would appear not to be an option. I have looked at the
documentation for the SB players and they are vague about accessing music
files from NAS drives.

Could someone give me some guidance about how to access my music files on my
NAS drives. I would really appreciate it.

there is a beginners guide to squeezebox server in the wiki.

The Western Digital is not powerful enough to run squeezebox server. You need to either install the SBS on a PC and keep it running (you might want to do that first to get a feel how it works), buy an additional NAS (powerfull enough) or buy a sheevaplug.

truehl is ethusiasticly providing install guides for the sheevaplug. Here in the forum, the wiki and his own page squeezeplug.de

However, there is currently no operating system on this NAS drive, so installing SB server would appear not to be an option.
To put it simply, if it is a NAS, then it has an OS. Or the other way around, if it doesn't have an OS, then it's not a NAS. The OS is quite likely some custom, embedded Linux, but it sounds like your bigger problem is that your NAS's hardware isn't up to running SBS. SBS runs fine on many NASs, but on others it's a non-starter. If you don't want to run SBS on one of your regular computers you could go for a different NAS, but instead I'd recommend an energy efficient headless PC, which will in many ways be better than a NAS, and for a comparable price.
