Deezer Updates ahead

Deezer users - a quick heads-up: please note that we're going to do some updates to the Deezer service in order to ensure compatibility with their latest API changes.

Users of SB Touch, test.mysqueezebox.com and/or Squeezebox Server 7.5 - please let us know of any trouble you're encountering using the Deezer service. Thanks for your understanding!

We sincerely hope to get there (music on demand, support for their Premium offer), but I can't say if and when it happens. Moving to their latest API is an important pre-requisite, and discussion is currently going on. We'll see...

Edit: because in most countries Last.fm isn't even available to its subscribers...

I live in the U.S. and it is my understanding that Deezer will not work as an app in my Squeezebox server/SB3 combo, presumably for copyright reasons. Is this correct?

If so, I don't understand since I am able to listen to Deezer.com on my PC without any restrictions.

Could someone clarify this?

Yes, that's correct.

Nobody understands the music labels' behaviour for digital music distribution.

OK - thanks for the info. But I have a couple of follow-up questions..

I have the Deezer "App" running on my IpodTouch - in addition to the "Web Radios" it also gives me the ability to select an artist under "Smart radios" (mostly other artists in a similar genre as the artist selected - not really what I want but better than nothing)..

So, my question is - will the new Deezer plug-in work in a similar fashion? And if the Deezer "App" (from the Apple store) is available for all users irrespective of location - what is preventing the Deezer plug-in for iPeng to have this functionality?

Yes, it provides the Webradio category and the Smart radios (based on some artist of your choice). That's nothing new btw. It already does in its current version. The new only uses a different interface to Deezer's servers (and has a few bugs fixed).

plugin for Squeezebox Server I assume? - Really, I don't know. That's legal's work. I know Deezer is working on making the Premium services available outside France, but unfortunately it's not up to us to define the conditions. We're happy to implement whatever we're allowed to. Neither Deezer nor us have any interest in limiting those services.

I have installed SC 7.5 and have enabled the Deezer plugin in the "Plugins" section, then pressed the "Apply" button.

After re-starting SC, I still do not see any reference to Deezer in the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Squeezebox\prefs\plugin\" directory.

So, something is not working right in my current plug-in installation of Deezer. All other plugins show in the directory.

Any suggestions?

Did you install the Deezer app from the App Gallery?
