View Full Version : Mis-reading of tags?

Hi folks,

I have an anomaly in how SlimServer (nightly from 30th July) is reading the
tags on some of my MP3s.

Here's an example, track 4 of the Ministry of Sound Annual Spring 2004 is
"Give It Away" by Deepest Blue. The track is tagged (ID3v1 and ID3v2) with:

Track#: 4
Title: Give It Away
Artist: Deepest Blue
Album: Annual Spring 2004 CD 1
Year: 2004
Genre: Dance

(The ID3v1 and v2 tags in the file are identical.)

In the SlimServer interface, this has been listed as:

"Give It Away" from "CD1" by "Annual Spring 2004"

Where I'd expect to see:

"Give It Away" from "Annual Spring 2004 CD 1" by "Deepest Blue"

I wouldn't mind so much about the details being wrong in the interface, if
it weren't for the fact that the SlimServer skips past the file as if it
can't find it - this means that at the moment large chunks of certain albums
are unplayable.

I'm running the latest nightly (30th July), and am listening on a SliMP3
(2.2) and on SoftSqueeze.

All my MP3s get tagged with "Tag and Rename", I don't put artwork or reviews
in the tags (they stay in separate files in the directories with the mp3s).

Across the 40 tracks on the Ministry Annual, 6 tracks on CD1 and 7 on CD2
are similarly afflicted.

I shall wipe the cache and re-scan the library and see if the _same_ files
get mis-tagged/mis-read.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour? I can't see anything on
bugs.slimdevices.com...
