genre tag missing from AAC files

the problem was twofold:
1. RTFM - i had left off the filename from the "iTunes Music Library.xml
Location" path
2. however this problem was obscured by what looks like a bug in the
"Find iTunes Library Automatically" setting: when this is set to auto
(and the "iTunes Music Library.xml Location" setting is blank or the
correct filename or an incorrect path), the server does not find the xml
file - so the genres are not read properly and itunes playlists not
found.

(when i tried these settings, i restarted the service and wiped the
cache each time)

that is almost certainly why you aren't getting your itunes playlists.
for some
reason, the server is using the directory thinking its the file.

please go into server settings->additional->itunes and check that you
have the
setting for find itunes library automatically.

also, was there more to this log before this error? if its too big,
feel free
to mail me offlist.

I susepcted that this was a problem. It would still be useful to see the log
when you do use the find automatically setting. It should give an indication
of what the server 'thinks' it is finding.

glad it is sorted out, however. Perhaps you could post a bug report about this
problem, and submit a section of the log outlining the problem.

yeah, but it would probably be a good idea have the server assume the default
filename so that other users don't run into the same problem.

I tried blanking my settings as a test and it found the library just fine from
the registry. I forget which version you said you were running. ws it 5.2.1
or a recnet nightly? It might be worth testing out a nightly build if you
haven't alreayd, just to see if it behaves better or the same for you. of
course, the d_itunes log from the command line will also be useful if you have
to time to reproduce the problem.
