This may have been addressed before, but I have not been able to find an
answer by searching, so I hope someone can help.
I am running slimp3 on Debian - I know it is an older version but that
is what is available as a Debian package. The program is started by a
script and uses chown to become group slimp3. On startup, the program
reports that it can't write to its logfile and it can't read or write
the prefeerences file. If I start slimp3 as root, those problems go
away so it obviously a permissions problem, but I can't seem to fix it.
The permissions for the log file directory are
drw-rw-r-- 2 slimp3 nogroup 4096 May 16 06:27 slimp3
and for the preferences file
-rw-rw-r-- 1 slimp3 nogroup 2109 May 14 18:03 slimp3.conf
Any suggestions for what the permissions for the program's files should
be or directions to more detailed information about program setup would
be appreciated.
