No sound java linux Suse 8.2/9.1?

Hi List,

I try to get Softsqueeze to play some music on my Suse 9.1 linux system.
However there is no sound. The same goes for my other Suse 8.2 system.
Alsa works; xmms etc. play flawless.

Anyone running Softsqueeze on a Suse/linux?

Sounds stupid but have you increased the volume level in softsqueeze. On
my system, when it is set at 20(in softsqueezze), I can't hear a thing!
The range that is useful to me is about 33-37, changes over this range
seem to go from very quiet to very loud.

The latest version of Softsqueeze should work much better on Linux if you
are using Alsa sound drivers. I cannot test this myself, so it would be good
to know if you get it working (and what it took). You should try changing
the Audio mixer in the configuration options, I think by default Java sound
will try and use the OSS drivers.
