Hi All,
When I try to connect to any internet radio stations I get a message saying "connecting" but connection does not happen.
Any suggestions as to what to check would be great.
Thanks.

Are you trying to connect via SC or SN?
You do have a registered SN account?
If SC, do you have your SN account info in SC7 > Setting > SqueezeNetwork?
If SC, will RadioIO play? SC7 > Internet Radio > RadioIO > *select station*

You do have a registered SN account?
I do.
If SC, do you have your SN account info in SC7 > Setting > SqueezeNetwork?
It will not connect to SqueezeNetwork..The default text size changes and it just hangs....
If SC, will RadioIO play? SC7 > Internet Radio > RadioIO > *select station*
No
Thanks for the help.

I am trying to connect via Squeeze Centers Internet Radio option. The station lists are all available but no connection.
SN is free and is not required (opt in only). But not opting in will severely hamper your Internet Radio usage. :)
Like......no Last.fm usage.
SN must be "registered" so that your SC and your player can utilize the functions of SN that are specific to you and your player. Otherwise your player can be controlled by someone else logged into SN.
And what if that person only likes to listen to Disco music? Yikes!
Last.fm won't function on SC until your SN info is entered onto SC and your registered Last.fm info is entered onto SN.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
From the SqueezeNetwork page I need a player PIN and a name but to get the players PIN I need to get it from SqueezeNetwork....
" try the squeezenetwork item in the player menu, then settings." from another forum post.
How do I get the players PIN to register the player if I cannot connect to SqueezeNetwork without the player being registered....
How do I get to listen to internet radio on my player? Its easy enough on my computer and no registration is required.

I take the point but people may just want to listen to free internet radio streams.
Thanks

SN is not required to listen to radio streams, as long as you install
SC.

Get your player to attempt to log in to SN, then go to the Settings menu on the actual player, one of these will display the PIN #. Go to the SN UI and login that pin. Your player should now connect to SN on your next attempt.
Correct, you can "opt in" for more services or remain unregistered with fewer services. Your choice. :)
Last.fm requires a "registered" account. How were you planning to use Last.fm without registering with them??
Without a SN account you have access to TONS of completely free stations. Just go to SC7 > Internet Radio > ....... start clicking. :) The services that require SN will be quite apparent.
In fact, before you go any further, I'd suggest you try to play some stations in Staff Picks to make sure they play. If you cannot play Staff Picks streams then you have a networking issue and a SN account won't solve that.
BTW: Slacker, Pandora, RadioTime, Live365, MediaFly, Last.fm, Live Music Archive all offer great free services......but you must register them and SN to access these incredible free services. :)
A SqueezeNetwork account is not required to play Internet Radio stations from your SC7 program.
The following FREE streams/services work right out of the box (no SN required) with SC7 > Internet Radio:
- Staff Picks
- Local (based on your general IP information) With a free RadioTime account you can get much more location specific
- Music (thousands of streams) 18 main genre categories with dozens of genre sub-categories
- Music > Internet Only (16 streaming services, most offering dozens of categories)
- Talk (hundreds of streams)
- Sports (dozens of categories and sub-categories)
- World (hundreds of streams)
- More Radio (hundreds of streams from BBC, DI.com, Sky.FM, Soma.fm, British & Irish Radio)
Note: ShoutCast and Live365 within this menu will NOT function without a SN account
- Search (enter any station ID, Name, freq., etc…)
- Tune In URL (enter any valid http URL stream) Cut & Paste works great getting URL’s from outside SC7
++ Alien BBC (hundreds of BBC streams) A separate plug-in is required, but still no SN required
++ RadioIO (61 streams) requires a SN account to access it’s 128k streams via SC7 > Internet Radio > RadioIO
but some of these streams are found within Staff Picks and play fine.
All of the RadioIO streams are also available (no SN) via SC7 > Internet Radio > Music > Internet Only > RadioIO …… however these are only 64k streams.
The following FREE streaming services will NOT function without a registered SqueezeNetwork account:
Live365, ShoutCast, RadioIO, MediaFly, Live Music Archive, Last.fm, RadioTime
The following Subscription services will NOT function without a registered SqueezeNetwork account:
Paid Services Only: Rhapsody, Napster, MP3Tunes, Classical.com, Sirius
Paid Services with (great) FREE limited access: Slacker, Pandora

Thanks for that. I cannot get any radio stations...it just says connecting but never does.
I can get all my iTunes music so I presume I have a working network connection though my Netgear Homeplug devices.
Any suggestions as to why I can get my music but not any radio?
Thanks again.

Yeah, you have a clog somewhere. Seems like your player cannot get out to the internet. Which player do you have?

Hi All,
I just switched off then on again the player and the homeplug networking device.
When I try to go to set up networking and chose ethernet I get cannot find DHCP server but if I choose Jims imac2 instead of set up networking the Squeezebox connects to my music library but not radio...
Has this some relevance?

What hardware players?
You shouldn't need to go through "setup" again even if your player loses power. It should just connect as it did last time (ethernet, DHCP). The only time I ever have to do the setup routine is if I do a factory reset.
Something is not right with your network/router/DHCP configuration.
I'd start with these:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/NetworkProblemsSecondGuide
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Beginners_Guide_To_Networks
Homeplugs are known to be glichy in certain setups. If you have a laptop can you wire the laptop to the Homeplug where your hardware player(s) are utilizing the Homeplugs (at the player location)? Can your laptop get out to the internet this way?

Hi Toby,
Thanks for the reply.
I have 4 Squeezeboxes currently and I cannot get radio on any of them.

But I don't think the test does anything with internet, I think it only tests throughput inside your local network. You must verify if the Homeplug is getting out to the internet.
Another idea, bring your player to your router, wire it, connect player to SC7. Now try to play a station.
