Thank you for your help. I missed the point that the
Winamp instance becomes another "player" in the
slimserver UI. I was queueing up selections in my
Slimp3 player.
Now I am streaming my MP3 collection from home through
an SSH tunnel. Totally untraceable by the company's
policy enforcing software.
I am port forwarding port 9000 in SSH and my player is
actually localhost (127.0.0.1). CPU load is negligible
on both ends, and the DSL barely notices it. Perfectly
clean sound.
