Is there any way while browsing artists etc to skip quickly to the next letter in the alphabet?

Scrolling from A to B can take a long time!

The CustomBrowse plugin will let you have an A-Z menu before choosing an artist which may help. Also, the Lazysearch plugin may be worth looking at.

Got the plug-in going, but it doesnt offer me a a-z menu?? Something I need to configure?

What you are looking for is the Artists by Letter view which should be available by default, but you need to make sure that you have enabled this (think this is hide/show functionality). Have you looked as the details in the wiki?
