View Full Version : SqueezeCenter with SqueezeNetwork functionality
I was wondering if there was a way to use my Squeezebox within the SqueezeCenter but with SqueezeNetwork functionality.
Now, I know you can access radio etc via Music Services (When connected to SqueezeCenter) but if I am within SqueezeCenter, I still need my PC on otherwise the screen is blank.
What I mean is this. (I am referring here to operation in SqueezeCenter mode)
* When my PC is switched off, the Squeezebox then either switches to SqueezeNetwork mode or stays in SqueezeCenter mode but I can still access the network services.
* The clock stays on like it does in SqueezeNetwork mode.
Is this possible at all?

Here's a few ideas (not mutually exclusive):
1) Switch to SN (manually) before you turn off your pc. It takes about 3 clicks of the remote. Switch back to SC when you turn on your pc. I did this for a while before I switched to a low power server that I don't mind leaving on 24/7.
2) Look at the ServerPowerControl plugin in the 3rd Party Plugin forums. It's still in beta, but you can set it to shutdown your pc from your SB, and have it switch over to SN automatically. It can also switch back to SC automatically when you boot your pc.
3) There's also an enhancement request/bug dealing with this. Vote for http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1956
Thanks for your reply aubuti.
1) Problem is twofold. a) My Pc is in a different room in the house, and b) there are more than me living here, so control of this is not always possible.
2) This sounds like it may be the thing. Am installing it now. Thanks for the tip
3) Thanks also for this link, I do feel it would be a significant improvement to the Squeezebox. I only recently started using the Squeeze Network, but others hate it on as it's a hassle to switch between that and SqueezeCenter.
Hi rgrds 1.
Switching to SqueezeNetwork can be done via the ir-remote or controller, and it can be done after the PC been shutdown if one missed that.
